This date will correspond with the Recreation De-
partment'-s plans for the start of an eight week supervised pro-
gram at this park.

(Mr. Rodgers left meeting.)

(a) Site plans for play apparatus - progress report: Pasco
Balzarini: Mr. Balzarini deferred to Mr. Ullrich for the pro-
gress report.
Mr. Ullrich said that on next Monday night the Council is being
asked to go to bid for the play apparatus; that $13,400 was in
this years budget from sales tax capital outlay funds; that the
$13,400 was a direct city contribution and not district funds.
To Commissioner Whitmores question concerning use of city funds
for the area when so much needs to be done other places, Mr.
Ullrich said that the developer will donate the land, the dis-
trict will develop it, and the city will maintain; that develop-
ment of park consists of filling, grading, planting and cons-
truction of permanent facilities but does not inc~ude piayground
equipment and it was approved by Council in this year's budget
that $13,400 from sales tax be used for equipment for this first
installation on the theory that the area, since 1950, has been
contributing taxes to the recreation and park program of exist-
ing Redwood City and that the entire city should contribute to
this facility. Mr. Ullrich again reviewed the land bank agree-
ment which had resulted in lieu of early proposed -60 ac. at foot
of Whipple-later a 35 ac. fully developed park on Redwood Pen-
insula - to a 160 acre land bank o£ dedicated- land for neighbor-
hood þ~rks. Mr. Ullrich said that city requirements have been
grossly in excess of what the formula calls for the developers to
provide, and it has been agreed that when the project got to
Shell Blvd. that the city would balance the land bank; that at
this point, about 1/3 of the peninsula has been developed and
that park dedication has been used for about 2/3, which is gross-
ly in excess of what the formula calls forì

AGENDA:
1 - COMMUNITY PARK MASTER PLAN:

."....l -- -- - .,b.

a. Status of request for scale models of plans A and Aa:
Mr. Ullrich said he had authorized Ribera & Sue to go ahead and
construct miniature scale models on the above plans at $200
each; that these models will not be in complete detail but will
have grade and be useful as a visual aid - funding being from
blanket budget item for these sort of items.

b. Citizens' Sub-committee meeting - Commissioner Bob Whitmore:
Mr. Whitmore reported on meeting with members óf the Citizens
Committee to the Winan Report and that these people were pleased

..

,,',;
