62 possible should be acquired for park purposes: consideration might be given on a long-term purchase agreement basis: that land in this section of city is very scarce due to zoning of area for apartments and multiple family dwellings--and in some cases, overdevelopment, which has not taken into consideration the creating of parks for the area: that three avenues are open to provide facilities to the área: direct city purchase, assessment district, land lease; reference to the over ninety names of petitioners from the area for a park--it was requested that, if possible, it be determined how many of these signers are property owners; that, while discussion did inclúde consideration of one particular site, no specific site determination or recommendation was made by the Commis- sion: inquired as to the possibility of establishing "plan lines" to . - protect vacant land.for future park use such as that near Commun1ty Park, etc. Mr. stuart thanked Mr. Maloney for his interest and assistance and asked that the minutes indicate his thanKs also to Mr. Ken Schroeter for his help. Commissioner Stuart moved to recommend to Council that the City- owned property at the northeast corner of Middlefield and Pine be r~ta~ned by the City as an open space area until such time as funds became available for its limited development as a minimal developed mini-pprk containing such things as turf, additional tree or so, couple of park benches, etc., seconded by Commissioner Thompson, and passed. AGENDA 3 - LA~~ACqUISIT~O~ PROPOSALS Inquiry was made concerning any information re property at corner of Valota and Madison St. Francis from Jefferson to Madison. of commission recommendation and property on Commissioner Knecht moved to recommend that the houses at the corner of Valota Road and Madison and property on St. Francis from Jefferson to Madison as well as property at 946 King Street (which property runs through to Dickey Street) be referred to the Real Estate Committee for appraisal for possible purchase by the City as additions to Community Park, seconded by Commissioner Stuart, and passed.
