<br />62 <br /> <br />possible should be acquired for park purposes: consideration might be <br />given on a long-term purchase agreement basis: that land in this section <br />of city is very scarce due to zoning of area for apartments and multiple <br />family dwellings--and in some cases, overdevelopment, which has not <br />taken into consideration the creating of parks for the area: that three <br />avenues are open to provide facilities to the área: direct city purchase, <br />assessment district, land lease; reference to the over ninety names of <br />petitioners from the area for a park--it was requested that, if possible, <br />it be determined how many of these signers are property owners; that, <br />while discussion did inclúde consideration of one particular site, no <br />specific site determination or recommendation was made by the Commis- <br />sion: inquired as to the possibility of establishing "plan lines" to <br /> <br />. - <br /> <br />protect vacant land.for future park use such as that near Commun1ty <br />Park, etc. <br /> <br />Mr. stuart thanked Mr. Maloney for his interest and assistance and <br />asked that the minutes indicate his thanKs also to Mr. Ken Schroeter <br />for his help. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart, seconded by Commissioner Thompson, moved to <br />recommend that the matter be -continued to the August agenda. Commissioners Whitmore and Morgan were not <br />present. <br /> <br />AGENDA <br />3 - LA~~ACqUISIT~O~ PROPOSALS <br />Inquiry was made concerning any information <br />re property at corner of Valota and Madison <br />St. Francis from Jefferson to Madison. <br /> <br />of commission recommendation <br />and property on <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht moved to recommend that the houses at the <br />corner of Valota Road and Madison and property on St. Francis <br />from Jefferson to Madison as well as property at 946 King Street <br />(which property runs through to Dickey Street) be referred to the <br />Real Estate Committee for appraisal for possible purchase by the <br />City as additions to Community Park, seconded by Commissioner <br />Stuart, and passed.
