Director of Recreation Paulson <br />for his newest golfing honor; and for his and Commissioner Knecht1s <br />enthusiasm and participation in the recent Junior Golf Championships <br />held at the Elk's Club. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart moved to recommend that a letter of commendation <br />be written to Mr. Paulson concerning his winning of an additional <br />golfing championship and for the honor and recognition which has come <br />to the Commission, the Recreation Department, and the City because of <br />these honors, seconded by Commissioner Thompson, and passed. Commis- <br />sioners Schenck and Morgan were not present. <br /> <br />The Commission recommended that the junior golf championship be con- <br />tinued next year; Mr. Paulson suggested letter be sent to the two <br />committee ladies of the Elks Club who were so helpful; and to Commis- <br />sioner Knecht for his dedicated help. <br /> <br />Commissioner Stuart moved to recommend that a letter of thanks be sent <br />to the people mentioned above -Elks Club ladies, and Mr. Knecht, <br />seconded by Commissioner Guida and passed. Commissioners Schenck and <br />Morgan were not present (Mr. Paulson will provide secretary with names.) <br /> <br />i <br />t <br />r <br />f <br />¡ <br />r <br />¡ <br />I <br />~ <br />I <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KNECHT said he had been asked by a gentleman living adja- <br />cent to the beach-restroom area of the neighborhood park in Shores if <br />these restrooms could be opened on Saturdays and Sundays, saying that <br />he would be responsible for seeing they were opened and closed on <br />these days. Mr. Balzarini will check into thisJ noted a teen festival <br />being planned at Fair Oaks School on this coming Saturday. Commissioners <br />Knecht and Guida will try to attend. <br /> <br />Mr. MORTON was asked to secure a meeting name plate, and attache case <br />for Commissioner Guida. <br /> <br />Mr. BALZARINI noted League of California Cities meeting being planned <br />for October 25/28, in San Diego, and suggested Commission send delegate. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER GUIDA told of the most successful, new this year, Peppermint <br />Patty Softball League - for girls 9 to 15 years of age and suggested <br />possible Commission endorsement of the activity. Mr. Paulson noted <br />that there were 10 teams, which were split in two divisions, 15 to a <br />team, and seven games were p1ayedJ said had good segment from Washing- <br />ton School area; and suggested possible doubling of teams next year. <br />Mr. Guida said the stands were filled for the championship game and <br />the Recreation Department should be commended for this teen-age activity. <br /> <br />Commissioner Guida moved to recommend that the Recreation Department be <br />commended for the most successful new program, the "Peppermint Patty <br />League", seconded by Commissioner Stuart, and passed.
