Mr. Balzarini was asked to provide a cost estìmate for fencing. Reference was made to Park "Department report to City Manager which showed Brizee ~üni Park Development (not completed) -Lease $1,600, and contribution from R.C. Kiwanis of $1,0001 LeBlanc Mini Park Develop- ment as costing a total of $6,466.86; and Chestnut Park Redevelopment cost of $12,108.57. 2 - _qAþJX~~rB-~1>. - Progress report. City Manager Ullrich explained the difficulties re acquisition of Phase 1 and stated that negotiations with property owners involved had been at a standstill for some time, and the only possibility for acqquisition would be to go to court under condemnation proceedings. Commission discussion included - that Phase 1 was the critical portion of the Canyon Road project which also permitted access from Canyon Road; that surface rights had been secured for the H/H r/w from Glenwood to Oak Knoll; plat plan and survey had been made for presently owned city property for the project¡ that the city should go ahead with condemnation proceedings: that promised monies from the County should be secured; that a master plan should be made for the total Canyon Road project: that there is an urgency to proceed twoards the acquisition of Phase 1. Þæ. and Mrs. Howard Durham indicated their support of the project from its start, and agreed on the urgency of acquisition of Phase 1. Mrs. Jan Weinbraub who had come to the meeting to speak for the Canyon Neighborhood Association said she would present the group's proposals at the December commission meeting. .Commissioner stuart moved to recommend to Council that the City Manager be instructed to start condemnation proceedings through the courts immediately for the acquisition of property known as Phase I within the context of the total Canyon Road Project picture, seconded by Commissioner Schenck, and passed. Commissioner Guida was noted absent. Comrnissìoner Stuart, moved to recommend to Council that promised County participation funds be secured from the County of San Mateo, and, along with presently budgetea city Open Space monies be earmarkea for Itearnest moneyll in the matter of condemnation proceedings for acquisition of Phase 1 of <the Agenda: Canyon Road project, seconâed by Commissioner Schenck, and passed.
