~-.

.. 192

III.

Golf Course Committee - Jim Knecht, Chairman: progress report -

Mr. Knecht reported several things. There had been a call by
Mayor Bury and that he had met with a Mr. Robert Cooper of the
State General Services Commission regarding the state college
site. They had had some discussion-relative to the-fact that
the school property would not be used much beforeID to 12 years
and that the City of Redwood might have the chance to use the
109 acres of. land in this area for some use. Mr. Knecht had
presented it to the golf course committee on Monday, April 26,
and they had become quite excited about this. Mr. Cooper has
stated that he would make a meeting with the Park and Recreation
Commission relative to this property and try to help and encourage
them to get the property used.

IV.

Veterans Memorial Building - City Manager directive for
administrative responsibility

Chairman Thompson asked if everyone had a copy of the definition
and directive in hand, and they did.

Mr. Morton reported that he would have some report to make at the
June meeting.

V.

Community Park Master Plan Priorities~and Recommendations to
Council -~Chairman Thompson .

Chairman Thompson reported her conversation with Mr. Ullrich
pursuing the grant and-that there had been no projected date to
the council. Figured that the council would act favorably on this
item.

VI. Hetch/Hetchy R/W Surface Riqhts - Chairman Thompson
Chairman Thompson indicated that City Manager Ullrich is hopeful
of getting the surface rights, but certain ones we could not get.
He stated that it looked good for securing eventual surface rights
ftom.';;one side of town to the other.

VII. Canyon Road - Progress Report
Chairman Knecht reported nothing. However, commission chairman
Thompson reported having been aware that there was a directive~to
Ribera & Sue for the implementation of a master plan for the
Canyon Road property that had been done in a communication between
the City Manager and the Park Department and Ribera & Sue. There
was a consensus by the Commission that the Park and Recreation
Departments and the Park and Recreation Commission have this as a
joint venture rather than going off and making a plan ever so pre-
liminary without their help. A subcommittee report for June would
bring this into focus. Chairman Thompson appointed Jim Knecht,
chairman, and Jack A. Stuart as the other member of this subcommittee
to check with the Park and Recreation Departments and Ribera & Sue as
to their feeling relative to the usage of the Canyon Road Property.
