Mr. Morton said that he would be putting it in every two
months because there was nothing new: it was just repetition of the
prior month.

It was reported by Assistant Directör of Recreation Paulson that the
Recreation Department had received a telephone call from Southern
Pacific relative to their desire to give to Redwood city a caboose
requested by the GAP students earlier this year. A committee of four,
Red Morton; Bill Paulson; Scotty Craik, president of the Redwood City
Kiwanis; and Jack Stuart went to the Alameda yards of Southern Pacific

. ~

to look at one. Mr. Stuart reported that No. 1106, a metal-slded
caboose~with windows covered with screen and in fairly good shape.
except that it would have to be cleaned up and refurbished, was
available for our use. It was recommended by the commission that we
write Southern Pacific accepting their offer. However before this, "
the council must be appraised of the action of the commission and get
their approval. Motion by Mr. Stuart~recommending to the city counéil
that they accept the caboose offer by the Southern Pacific. Seconded
by Mr. Guida. Vote: unanimous.

~
\

Chairman Thompson then s,et up a train subcommittee madè up of Commissioner
Stuart and Commissioner Guida. After some discussion, it was concerned
that possibly a citizens committee should be involved along with the
Recreation Department. We are to contact~Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Griffin
of the Southern Pacific Company and start the action relative to moving
it to Redwood City from the Alameda yards.

XII.
