160

representing the Civic Cultural Commissio~. The P
sion had been g~ven copies of the Ordinance (1494)
establ~shing the Civic Cultural Commission and
Ordinance (1464) amme~ding the duties of the P&R
Commission.

& R Commis-

j

Chairman Buickerood said he wished to give an informal pre-
sentation of the duties of the Civic Cultural Commission.
The Commission has been organized for over one year and is
composed of seven members. He stated that he was happy to
be invited to our meeting and hoped for good communication
between the two ~ommissions.

He said that there was a cultural gap in our community, and
at the present the commission is studying the needs of the
city.

Commissioner Guida explained the ideas ~xpressed by the P&R
Commission concerning the improvements for the Easter Bowl
as outlined in the Capital OUtlay Priorities Report. Mr.
Buickerood was not aware of the Easter Bowl changes and
offered to visit it in the near future. Mr. Guida hoped both
commigsions could work together on this project for the better-
ment of Redwood City if our recommendation to the City Council
is accepted.

Chairman Buickerood apologized for only two representatives
from his commission, but would share the information learned
with his Commdssion.

2.

MOTORCYCLE & MINI BIKE PARK PROPOSAL

h... l~ L h-~I - ."'1 ~ I;If - .. ~ - ø..""'~ 1 I!o..- ---~ -.-In.-.-

~ Mr. MacDonald stated that he and several other police officers
are very enthusiastic about acquiring land and establ.ishing
such a park. He has discussed the idea with Mr. Guida and
the Police Youth Club and was encouraged by Mr. Guida to bring
the idea to the commission.

The three sites suggested by Mr. MacDonald were a) State College
Property on Edgewood Road, b) Canada College, and c) Leslie
Salt Property at end of Whipple Avenue.

He felt that if land is acquired by the Commission that the
Police Youth Club feels there is a real need for such a park
and would help in supervising it.

Much discussion was given to the noise factor at sites a & b.
Bill Paulson suggested that instead of a Police Youth Club
activity, it should be the City's responsibility for this
type of project wi~ ~id City e~loyeesconducting.the oper-
ation. Members agreed to this idea. It was suggested that
information be obtained from other city parks of this nature
concerning costs, liabilities, and rules for users.
