<br />1. The City plants an average of one hundred fifty (150) 15-gallon street trees a year <br />(non-drought year) - typically in two large planned projects in the fall and spring <br />seasons, and interim smaller plantings. The City may plant twenty-four inch boxed <br />sized trees. The City will provide all the necessary trees plus such necessary <br />planting materials such as stakes, tree ties, and fertilizer. Contractor shall apply all <br />other necessary equipment, labor, and supplies, such as shovels, stake pounder, <br />mattocks, etc. to perform the task. <br /> <br />2. At the completion of planting work, the Contractor shall update the City's <br />computerized inventory information for the trees planted. The Contractor shall add <br />the tree and site data. The contractor may, at the City's discretion, enter the data in <br />a computer program or update written lists for the City to enter the data later. The <br />inventory data includes: location, species, planting strip width, diameter, condition, <br />health, wires and utilities, sidewalk condition, and maintenance performed. <br /> <br />3. Underground Services Alert (USA) shall be phoned at 1-800-227-2600 at least 48 <br />hours prior to performing tree planting. Site excavation cannot proceed without USA <br />being notified. <br /> <br />4. Compensation for the above materials and work completed is included in the hourly <br />rate for Bid Items NO.3 and NO.4 in the Bid Proposal. <br /> <br />D. Stump removal and grinding services as assigned <br /> <br />1. A stump grinding machine acceptable to the City shall be used for all stump grinding <br />work. The woody portion of the stump and large surface roots as directed shall be <br />ground to a typical depth of twelve inches (12") below finished grade. <br /> <br />2. The stump debris shall be removed from the site so that the remaining site condition <br />is a level area with the surrounding grade. All excess debris to be removed shall <br />become the property of the Contractor for disposal. <br /> <br />3. Stump removal work cannot proceed <br />without USA being notified. <br /> <br />4. Compensation for the above materials and work completed is included in the hourly <br />rate for Bid Item No. 5 in the Bid Proposal. <br /> <br />E. Pesticide Application <br /> <br />1. The Contractor may be assigned to perform a dormant spray to deciduous trees <br />during the winter spray season or a foliar spray to trees during the growing season. <br />The Contractor may be assigned to perform a soil drench of systemic pesticide for <br />insect management. The contractor may be assigned to perform trunk injections for <br />insect or disease management. Predominant species are Ash and Sycamore <br />although other tree species may be included. The size and location of the trees to be <br />treated may vary and will be designated by the Director. <br /> <br />2. The Contractor shall be responsible for complying with all State and Federal <br />regulations associated with the application of pesticides and shall be responsible for <br />providing the necessary Pest Control Advisor recommendations and reporting for the <br />work. All applications shall be made per labeled rates or special permits as provided <br />by the County Agricultural Commissioner's Office. All applicator protective clothing <br />and equipment shall be per label recommendations. <br /> <br />Page 4 of 6 <br />
