':..- ..... . <br /> <br />....15 <br /> <br />Commissioner Guida stated the present commission members were more <br />knowledgable than any new commissioner would be. He felt the present commission <br />members were still functioning until they were replaced. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rollins suggested to proceed as organized. He did not agree <br />with postponement and delay. He felt there was important business which needed <br />to be conducted. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Knecht felt the City Council should have notified the members <br />that their terms were expiring. He felt the commission should move ahead and <br />vote. <br /> <br />Commissioner Weintraub stated ,there were no guarantees that a present <br />commissioner would be asked to serve again. She suggested postponement for <br />one month after which time the matter could be reevaluated. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of the discussion, the vote was called for. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />2 - Commissioners Weintraub and Pound <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />4- Commissioners Rollins, Guida, Knecht and Schenck <br /> <br />Motion failed. <br /> <br />Discussions were held regarding the office of Secretary. <br />that a Commissioner has to hold the title of Secretary. <br /> <br />It was decided <br /> <br />Motion: <br /> <br />It was .11).Oved by Commissioner Knecht, Chairman of the Nominating <br />Committee, that Commissioner Guida be nominated Chairman, that <br />Commissioner Weintraub be nominated Vice Chai~person, and that <br />Commissioner Pound be nominated Secretary, seconded by Commissioner <br />Rollins. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />5 - Commissioners Rollins, Guida, Weintraub, Knecht and Schenck <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />Abstains: 1 - Commissioner Pound <br /> <br />Motion carried and will be effective at the May 8,1974, meeting. <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM 2 - ~~scussion of Non-Discr~inatory Use of Pa!ks & Recreation <br />Facilities <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Weeks reported on the nondiscriminatory use of public areas especially <br />regarding baseball diamond use. Commissioner Rollins suggested obtaining a <br />policy position from the Commission. (Commissioner Guida left the meeting <br />room at 8:25 PM and returned at 8:27 PM.) The discussion centered around <br />girls and boys participating in each other's programs. <br /> <br />MOtion: Commissioner Pound moved that this item be directed to the Operational <br />Policies Committee for review and study, seconded by Commissioner <br />Weintraub. <br /> <br />On the question: <br /> <br />Commissioner Guida felt that the girls were being involved in sports. He <br /> <br />m~tion~ P~p~mt Patty girls softball as an eM~1e toot 196 girls ood signed <br />up for the program and he felt that girls were being adequately accommodated. <br /> <br />
