<br />-= =- ~."å 5 <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Other Reports <br /> <br />Commissioner Pound reported that the kickoff of the first Neighborhood <br />Advisory Committee meeting was a success with from 12 to 15 citizens in <br />attendance. Mr. Weeks mentioned that they received quality input from <br />the citizens. <br /> <br />REPORT ITEM 5 - Committee Schedulin& <br /> <br /> <br />Community Park Committee - Chairman Schenck requested the next meeting be <br />left open and he would schedule it via telephone. <br /> <br />Program Committee - Chairperson Weintraub called the next meeting for <br />July 29 at 10:00 a.m. <br /> <br />~erational Policies Committee - Chairman Rollins called the next meeting <br />for July 29 at 11:00 a.m. <br /> <br />Qpen Space Committee - As Chairman Knecht was absent, it was decided to <br />leave this meeting open and to schedule it via telephone. <br /> <br />Design & Development Committee - Chairperson Weintraub called the next <br />meeting for July 17 at 10:00 a.m. <br /> <br />MATTERS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br /> <br />John Crevelt (Save the Recreation Land Committee) spoke to the Commission <br />regarding the sale of the Santa Clara property and the Commission's interest <br />in acquiring this property. Need for the property was stressed and the Com- <br />mission discussed the various implications of acquiring the property. At the <br />present time, the School District has put the property up for sale and is <br />accepting bids. Obtaining financing for purchasing/leasing the land was also <br />discussed. Mr. Weeks indicated that the Parks & Recreation Commission and the <br />City Council had determined that the monies received from the State Park Bond <br />Issue would be expended on the acquisition of the Middlefield Neighborhood <br />.Park. This could be changed, but it would take a City resolution along with <br />County and State approval. Joint use development was mentioned. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Schenck moved that the Commission officially <br />write a formal letter to the School District respectfully <br />requesting that the School District, the Parks & Recreation <br />Department Staff, and the City get together and explore the <br />implications of a lease agreement tmmediately before the <br />property is sold, seconded by Commissioner Weintraub. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />Commissioner Schenck moved that the Commission send a letter <br />to the City Manager requesting that he request the City Council <br />form a joint committee with the School District to explore the <br />possibilities for a lease and joint use agreement, seconded <br />by Commissioner Pound. <br /> <br />The motion carried unanimously by voice vote. <br /> <br />ROUND TABLE <br /> <br />Chairman Guida indicated to the Commission that Doris Thompson and Jack Stuart <br />are interested in the Santa Clara property and are offering their services. <br /> <br /> <br />_.~--_.. <br /> <br />, <br />
