'-

5iJ;;

Commissioner Knecht expressed his concern that the County contribute equally
with regard to funding. Mr. Villasenor conveyed that the City of Redwood
City contributed approximately $140,000 and the County contributed $50,000;
the majority of the funding for this fiscal year was budgeted for capital
improvements. Integrating of funding was discussed briefly and Mr. Weeks
indicated that this was one problem which would hopefully be dealt with in
the Community Development Program.

Chairperson Weintraub remarked that there was some difficulty in getting the
recreation program going in the schools in the target area--that the program
was not well attended--and she was interested in knowing if there was some
way to boost attendance. Mr. Paulson stated that comparatively speaking
there was extensive participation in the program. Mr. Weeks stated that
the Department was currently serving four schools in the County area as a
part of the City-School Agreement. If the contract is not renewed due to
shortage of School funds, the City would probably discontinue servicing
those sc hools .

Chairperson Weintraub thanked Mr. Villasenor for his extremely interesting
and informative presentation. She further stated that several Commissioners
would be contacting him in the near future with their ideas and suggestions.

Chairperson Weintraub welcomed the GAP students from Sequoia High School
and assure them to feel free to ask any questions at any time during the
meeting.

Mr. Weeks introduced Mr. Luis Hernandez, Park Foreman. Mr. Hernandez has the
maintenance of the Fair Oaks Community under his jurisdiction.

AGENDA ITEM 3 - ~onsideration of Pro~sed Park Naming Poli?~

Commissioner Rollins explained the background of the proposed park naming
policy and reiterated the various priorities suggested by the Committee.
It was felt the proposed policy guidelines would assist the Commission and
Council with the task of naming parks in the future. There was no further
discussion.

MOTION:

Commissioner Schenck moved to accept the Committee's report
as written and to forward it to the City Council for con-
sideration and approval.

The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.

REPORT ITEM 1 - D~sign & pevelo~ent Committee

MOTION:

Commissioner Pound moved to accept the Design & Development
Committee report as written, seconded by Commissioner
Schlesinger.

The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.

REPORT ITEM 2 - ~erational Policjes Commi~tee

MOTION:

Conunissioner Schlesinger moved to accept the Opera'tional Policies
Committee report as written, seconded by Conunissioner Wilson.

~e ooti~ carried unanioously by wice vote.
