The majority of City Council members
contacted preferred October 27. Director Griffiths indicated that October
27 was Red Ribbon Day and that there would be a carnival and softball game
at Red Morton Park starting at 3:00 p.m. The Commis;oners selected October
27 as the tour date. The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Community
Activities Building with coffee and donuts and a one hour joint meeting
with the City Council. The tour will follow and will end in Redwood Shores
at 12:00 p.m. with lunch to follow.

ITEM 4 - Contractual Instructor Payments

Director Griffiths referred to a memo from Julie Hannon, Recreation
Supervisor and Mary Ann Fisch, Recreation Coordinator, regarding regulated
instructor payments. There was some discussion among the Commissioners
regarding this new policy and Director Griffiths indicated he would have
Julie Hannon attend the next Commission meeting to explain it in detail
and answer questions.

ITEM 5 - Driving Range Discussion

Commissioner Mortensen reported that the driving range sub-committee
located a possible site for the driving range. The land available is
adjacent to the San Carlos Airport. Mr. Sibley was referred to the proper
authorities to try and obtain a lease of the land available.

ITEM 6 - 4th of July Parade

Chairperson Howard stated that a thank you letter was sent to Mr. Guy
Thompson of Thompson Toyota for the use of his fire truck during the
parade. A picture of the fire truck in the parade appeared in local papers
and on Channel 2. Commissioner Nordness felt that because of the exposure
the Commission receives from the truck in the parade, we should use it to
our best advantage. Commissioner Slusser has access to a PCA-approved
platform which could be placed on a flat bed truck. He asked to have this
matter tabled until our August meeting. '
