She was very pleased with the
results and wanted to express her thanks.

ITEM 2 - Redwood Shores - Marlin Park

A group of residents representing the Redwood Shores Pl~ Group appeared
before the Commission to discuss the pl~ground equipment and facilities at
Marlin Park. Spokesperson PI! Pontius made a presentation to the
COImission which included color photographs of problems at the park and
suggested w~s to correct the problems. The group is especially concerned
about the 25 year old wooden pl~ground equipment located at the park.
They feel the equipment is dangerous for the children and is a defintely
liability issue. The group felt that even if the pl~ equipment could
be repaired, the structure is not safe for small children. They would like
to see the pl~ equipment removed and replaced. The group has researched
new pl~ground equipment and feels it could be replaced at a cost of less
than $20,000. The group had previous met with Director Griffiths,
Commissioners Mortensen and Slusser, and Councilman Jack Murr~. Ms.
Pontius wondered how this matter could become a budget item and what type
of time frame it would take to cOlplete this project. Commissioner Slusser
concurred with the group and has looked at the equipment in detail. Ms.
Pontius stated that Director Griffiths had a picnic table installed
recently but the park is really in need of a shade structure. The group
also had the following recommendations: install a fence at park to protect
children from running into the street; installation of BBQ pits; restrooms
located closer to the pl~ equipment; new sand in beach area; another pl~
structure installed; would like sand cleaned up as glass had been
frequently found there; would like to see more;police/security in area; and
original restroOis need to be refurbished. Director Griffiths said
possible funding could come from the GID Budget. There will be a meeting
next week of the GID Budget Committee and he will check to see if this
matter could be added to the agenda. He pointed out that we have an
architectural agreement open for Spinas/Mezes renovations and that perhaps
an amendment could be made to this agreement to include Marlin Park, but
will have to check with City Manager. The decision concerning the funding
of this project from the GID Budget would be up to a vote of the GID
Colllllittee.

M/S Castelli/Mortensen: That GID funds be expended to remove and replace
the pl~ structure at Marlin Park; and in order
of priority, install shade structure, fence, and
new restroom at Marlin Park.

Motion passed.

ITEM 3 - 4th of July Float

Commissioner Slusser attended the Annual PCA Organizational meeting to find
out the rules and regulations necessary to enter a float in the 4th of July
