\ M/S Truscelli/Swope: To request a study session with the City Council on Monday. May 3. Motion passed. ITEM 3 - Review of Open P&R Committees This matter was deferred to the April meeting. ITEM 4 - letter from COilissioner Filippi Chairperson Davis drafted a response to a letter received from Civic Cultural Commissioner Jeff Filippi and gave a copy to each of the Commissioners for their review. The draft was revised and approved by the Commissioners to be sent. Superintendent Hartman announced there will be an open house/tour on Saturday. March 27 from 1-4pm at the Fox Theater and invited all to attend. A proposal has been made to use the second floor of the Fox Theater as an artists' studio and gallery and this open house is being held to determine if there is community interest for this type of project. ITEM 5 - Community Center/School Site Update Director Griffiths said the Belmont School District has formally approved the concept of the joint community center/school site with the City. He mentioned at a GID meeting held today. funds were allocated for the study and design fees for the City.s portion of the project. Director Griffiths said the City ;s going to have to purchase the 1.25 acre parcel adjoining the site at a cost of $875.000 and the City will be working with the School District to have them purchase this property over an extended period of time. ITEM 6 - Park Assignments This matter will be deferred to the April meeting. ITEM 7 - Implementation Plans for Commission Objectives This matter will be deferred to the April meeting. - ITEM 8 - Youth Advisory Council Commissioner Berone announced that she met with Commissioner Hardness and Councilperson LaBerge last week to discuss the idea of a youth advisory council. She and Commissioner Hordness are continuing to gather more information about youth advisory councils and they plan to meet again on April 15 and will have more information for the Commission at the April meeting. Committee Reports There were no committee reports. Monthly Reports -Commissioner Slusser mentioned the large number of accessible recreation . activities detailed in Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator Tulioc's report. He noted Supervisor Blondino.s report and the end of boys baseball and girls softball program in the middle schools. Commissioner Slusser also mentioned Supervisor Wilkman1s report of the new recreation brochure layout.
