May 3. <br /> <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - Review of Open P&R Committees <br />This matter was deferred to the April meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - letter from COilissioner Filippi <br /> <br />Chairperson Davis drafted a response to a letter received from Civic Cultural <br />Commissioner Jeff Filippi and gave a copy to each of the Commissioners for <br />their review. The draft was revised and approved by the Commissioners to be <br />sent. Superintendent Hartman announced there will be an open house/tour on <br />Saturday. March 27 from 1-4pm at the Fox Theater and invited all to attend. A <br />proposal has been made to use the second floor of the Fox Theater as an <br />artists' studio and gallery and this open house is being held to determine if <br />there is community interest for this type of project. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - Community Center/School Site Update <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said the Belmont School District has formally approved the <br />concept of the joint community center/school site with the City. He <br />mentioned at a GID meeting held today. funds were allocated for the study and <br />design fees for the City.s portion of the project. Director Griffiths said <br />the City ;s going to have to purchase the 1.25 acre parcel adjoining the site <br />at a cost of $875.000 and the City will be working with the School District <br />to have them purchase this property over an extended period of time. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - Park Assignments <br />This matter will be deferred to the April meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 7 - Implementation Plans for Commission Objectives <br />This matter will be deferred to the April meeting. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />ITEM 8 - Youth Advisory Council <br /> <br />Commissioner Berone announced that she met with Commissioner Hardness and <br />Councilperson LaBerge last week to discuss the idea of a youth advisory <br />council. She and Commissioner Hordness are continuing to gather more <br />information about youth advisory councils and they plan to meet again on <br />April 15 and will have more information for the Commission at the April <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br /> <br />There were no committee reports. <br /> <br />Monthly Reports <br /> <br />-Commissioner Slusser mentioned the large number of accessible recreation <br />. activities detailed in Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator Tulioc's report. <br />He noted Supervisor Blondino.s report and the end of boys baseball and <br />girls softball program in the middle schools. Commissioner Slusser also <br />mentioned Supervisor Wilkman1s report of the new recreation brochure layout. <br /> <br />
