<br />ITEM 4 - Review of Open Park and Recreation Committees <br /> <br />The following are a list of open committees for the Park and Recreation <br />Commission: <br /> <br />Union Cemetery-Commissioners Swope and Trusce1li <br />Dogs in the Park-Commissioners Davis and Howard <br />Committee on the Maintenance of School Fields-Commissioner Howard <br />Youth Advisory Council-Commissioners Howard and Hordness <br />Letzring Memorial-Commissioners Howard and Hordness <br /> <br />The Commissioners reviewed the list and determined all committees were still <br />active except one. <br /> <br />M/S Slusser/Truscelli: To abolish the Committee on the Maintenance of <br />School Fields. <br /> <br />Motion passed. <br />ITEM 6 - Park Assignments <br /> <br />The Commissioners reviewed the park assignment list and the following ;s a <br />revised list: <br /> <br />Comm; ssioner Berone-Red 'Morton. Hoover. Mariner <br />Chairperson Davis-Westwood. Garrett, Stulsaft. Red Morton Community Center <br />Commissioner Howard-Hawes. Palm. Dolphin. Fair Oaks Community Center <br />Comiss;oner Slusser-Mezes, Spinas, Jardin de Ninos, Hoover, Mariner <br />Commissioner Swope-Dove Beeger. Wellesley Crescent. Laurie Duncan. Stafford <br />Union Cemetery <br />Commissioner Trusce11i-Shorebird. Maddux, Red Morton Park. Veterans Memorial <br />Senior Center <br /> <br />ITEM 7 - Implementation Plans for CDilission Objectives <br /> <br />Chairperson Davis appointed himself and Commissioner Berone to take the list <br />of Commission objectives and develop a list of concrete tasks to accomplish <br />the objectives. They will meet and report back to the Commission. <br /> <br />ITEM 8 - Youth Advisory Council <br /> <br />Commissioner Berone reported she and Commissioner Hordness met with <br />Councilwoman LaBerge and spoke with various people ;n the community to get <br />feedback on the formation of a youth advisory council. All basic research <br />has been completed and positive comments were received from all interviewed <br />about the idea. Commissioner Berone drafted a letter to the Mayor and <br />Councilmembers to inform them about the idea of a youth advisory council and <br />enlist their support. She then would like to have a IIbrainstormingll session <br />with all interested parties and prepare a report to Council with the results. <br />The Commissioners reviewed the draft and made a few changes before finalizing <br />it. Commissioner Hordness said he spoke with youth groups including the <br />Sequoia Union High School District Student Advisory Council which consists of <br />6 members from each high school in the district. He said the Student <br />Advisory Council supported the idea of a youth advisory council in Redwood <br />City. He felt it was necessary to have an advisory/facilitator to the <br />Youth Advisory Council who would be a constant due to the turnover of the <br />students on the council. Hita Spangler said she felt a youth advisory <br />council would help students better understand the government process. <br /> <br /> <br />.,":, <br /> <br />.
