Commissioner Nordness shared the drawings <br />of the memorial stone with the Commissioners and blueprints drawn up by <br />Keith Bautista showing the proposed installation site. The Commissioners <br />reviewed and discussed the proposal and made various suggestions regarding <br />the method of installation and ways to eliminate any safety concerns. <br /> <br />MIS TruscelliJMorton: To get finalized figures for the proposals and proceed <br />with the option #2 with Fontana & Company. <br /> <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />Director Griffiths suggested installing benches adjacent to the memorial stone <br />and pour cement on each side of stone to prevent it from being removed and <br />eliminating possible safety hazards to the pub lie. <br /> <br />MIS Howard/Truscelli: To dedicate the field as the Gerry Letzring Little <br />League Camp lex; that the Commission accept <br />the concept of the design of the scoreboard; and <br />that further investigation of the materials to be <br />used be completed. <br /> <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />Mary Letzring thanked Commissioner Nordness for all his work on this <br />project. She mentioned now that we have an estimated figure, she will be <br />making phone calls to private funding sources for the memorial. She <br />suggested using the red granite rather than the gray granite for the memorial <br />stone because it looked nicer and would blend in better with the ballfield <br />complex. Commissioner Nordness will contact Highlanders and South <br />Redwood Little League representatives to advise them of the proposals and to <br />ask for donations for memorials. He will also send a press release to the <br />Redwood City Tribune and the Redwood City Almanac to let the public know <br />of the project and that donations will be accepted. Commissioner Nordness <br />said they would like to take the recommendation to the City Council on <br />February 28. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - RED MORTON CENTER UPDATE <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard reported that the Red Morton Steering Committee <br />met on January 14 to review the current plans for the new center. She said <br />Civic Cultural Commissioner Tamara Piulle attended the meeting to discuss <br />the need for including art at the new center. Commissioner Howard <br />explained that the project has been approved by the Planning Commission <br />and the Architectural Review Board and the next meeting of the Steering <br />Committee will be held on February 22 to review the design package. Director <br />Griffiths said Bull, Stockwell and Allen will have the plans and specifications <br />and landscape plans finished by April 20 for further review by various plan <br />checkers. He said we would like to go to City Council on April 29 for <br /> <br />
