Award of the lowest responsible bidder would be made during <br />August and site work would begin in September. <br /> <br />Chairperson Davis asked what plans have been made to accommodate the <br />displaced programs at Red Morton Center during the construction. Director <br />Griffiths said that staff has been working hard on contingency plans and said. <br />perhaps Jan Knight, Julie Hannon and Mark Schatz could come to the <br />February meeting to provide the Commission with a detailed update. <br />Commissioner Howard said the current plans and drawings of the new center <br />are on display at Red Morton. She said the model developed for the new <br />center will be on display at the Bull, Stockwell and Allen booth at the CPRS <br />Conference in Anaheim. She mentioned she would be unable to attend the <br />next Steering Committee meeting on February 22 and Commissioner Morton <br />volunteered to attend for her. <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard said she received an information packet from . <br />Director Griffiths from the Kenadar Corporation who assist organizations in <br />raising funds for community projects. She felt this was an excellent way for <br />the Park and Recreation Commission to help raise funds for the new Red <br />Morton Center. Kenadar Corporation offers the purchase of bricks, brass <br />plates, tiles and other materials which would be imprinted with the names of <br />the purchasers and placed as part of a walkway, on walls, or other areas in the <br />new facility. She mentioned that Mark Schatz has been involved in this type <br />of acti vi ty and has offered to lend his assistance with this project. The <br />Commissioners discussed this matter and agreed that it was something that <br />they would like to become involved in. <br /> <br />MIS Howard/Nordness: That the Park and Recreation Commission become <br />involved during the next 18 months in fund <br />activities which would help offset costs for the <br />new Red Morton Center. <br /> <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard also sugge~ted having a booth at the 4th of July Street <br />Fair to help advertise the project and enlist community support. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - ELECfION OF OFFICERS <br /> <br />Chairperson Davis said that he and Commissioner Slusser met as the <br />Nomina ting Committee and recommended the nomination of Susan Swope <br />for Chairperson and Pauline Truscelli was Vice Chairperson of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission for 1994.
