<br />Commissioner Slusser asked if Mr. Schatz would consider "in-kind" <br />contributions/ donations for the new center. He offered his assistance to go <br />out into the community to ask for in-kind donations. Mr. Schatz said he <br />would develop a "shopping list" which could be used to request in-kind <br />donations. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nordness asked what programs will be displaced when the <br />current Red Morton Center is demolished. Supervisor Knight developed a <br />list of programs currently held at or provided by the staff at Red Morton <br />Center. She reviewed the list with the Commissioners and gave them an <br />update of where the programs will be held and alternative sites. The Kids <br />Klub program will be housed in a portable somewhere in Red Morton Park <br />and she is currently looking at funding for the portable. Supervisor Knight <br />said she is also concerned about the drop-in activities for the teens and is <br />working on developing and researching alternative programs. She also <br />suggested having a "demolition ceremony" of the old center. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - LETZRING MEMORIAL UPDATE <br /> <br />Commissioner Nordness reported that the approval of the Letzring Memorial <br />will be on the consent calendar of the February 28 City Council meeting. The <br />dedication ceremony will be held at Opening Day Ceremonies of the <br />Redwood City National Little League on April 16. A donation of $2,000 was <br />received from the Redwood City National Little League to be placed towards <br />the cost of the memorial. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nordness said he is still working with the committee to <br />develop the finalized narrative that will be placed on the memorial stone. <br />He mentioned that L. Bocci and Sons stone masons may need some assistance <br />with the unloading of the stone at the Kiwanis site. . ,. <br /> <br />The following items were taken out of order: <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - TRAINING FOR COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Superintendent Hartman reported that she and other staff liaisons for the <br />City's boards and commissions met recently with the Assistant City Manager <br />to discuss possible training for board and commission members. The <br />Commissioners were sent a questionnaire to be completed and returned to <br />Jane Light by March 15. The Commissioners felt training was a good idea and <br />Chairperson Swope suggested having experienced commission members <br />perform some of the training. <br /> <br />
