¡ ... Commissioner Davis would like to develop an overall steering committee with several sub-committees oriented to the different types of fund raising. Sugges ted s ub-commi ttees include: 1.) Substantial gifts (corporate and local citizens) 2.) Grants (to be written) 3.) Community fund raising (tiles/bricks) 4.) In- kind donations of equipment, etc. He suggested forming a Steering Committee consisting of: 1.) Honorary Chairperson 2.) Staff liaison to coordinate in-kind donations 3. ) Chairperson of four (4) s ub-commi ttees 4.) Member of City Council 5.) Member of Civic Cultural Commission 6.) Member of Chamber of Commerce /Business community 7.) Honorary Members 9.) Local clubs (community-based) Commissioner Howard suggested meeting with Ms. Leib to obtain direction on fund raising efforts. Chairperson Swope volunteered to contact Ms. Leib because of her availability to receive and make phone calls during the day. Commissioner Nordness suggested Judy Daher of the Redwood City Elementary School District be contacted for ideas on fund raising. Commissioner Davis expressed a need for a publication similar to a donation/ gift catalog. Staff will develop copy of each section of the catalog dealing with Red Morton Center programs. Supervisor Julie Hannon suggested developing drafts of programs/ graphs, etc. after the Labor Day weekend. Chairperson Swope suggested having three (3) Commissioners meet with Sandy Leib. Chairperson Davis, Commissioners Howard and Swope and Supervisor Hannon will meet with Ms. Leib and Chairperson Swope said she would contact Ms. Leib for possible meeting dates. A dedication ceremony for the new Red Morton Center was discussed by the Commission. Director Griffiths advised the Commission with all the staff vacancies that efforts be put forth in developing a dedication ceremony for the new facility rather than dealing with a ground breaking ceremony. , Chairperson Swope said she would be interested in being on the grant sub- committee and volunteered to look a various foundation materials to determine where we could submit a grant proposals. Supervisor Hannon said she has 6 to 7 additional agencies that she will forward to Chairperson Swope on this matter. Supervisor Hannon reviewed the Red Morton Center bids and discussed add-alternatives and the construction schedule. She will provide construction cost estimates of the major building components and will need to make some decisions about what types of projects are marketed.
