.

-10

Commissioner Howard reported she received a report from Heather Shotwell
regarding the Redwood Shores School/Community Center Committee's
visits to three different school sites in the Bay Area in order to obtain ideas in
the planning and development of the school/ community center in Red wood
Shores. Copies of this report will be sent to all the Commissioners.

ITEM 2 - REDWOOD MORTON CENTER UPDATE

Director Griffiths reported the Red Ivlorton Center structure has been
demolished and debris is being taken away. Plans for a ground breaking
ceremony are being organized for October 13, 1994. Details will be sent to the
Commissioners.

Commissioner Howard asked if the trees removed during construction
would be replaced and Director Griffiths stated the trees would be replaced at
a ratio of 1.5 to 1. Commissioner Morton asked if he could obtain a list of
women and minority sub-contractors for the project and Director Griffiths
said he would request the list from the City Engineer in the Community
Development Department.

Chairperson Swope said she spoke to Commissioner Davis regarding his
conversation with consultant Sandy Leib. Ms. Leib has indicated that she
charges $50.00 per hour and is not agreeable to come to an organizational
meeting at no charge. Supervisor Hannon will discuss this matter with Mark
Schatz and look into another fundraising consultant for the project.

Commissioner Morton mentioned OICW in Menlo Park had a $4.5 million
dollar fundraising project to relocate their facility which was held over a 2 1/2
year period of time. He suggested contacting Tom Ford and Paul Cook who
were instrumental in organizing the fundraising for OICW. He felt a
brainstorming meeting with these two men could be very helpful to our
fundraising efforts.

Chairperson Swope felt that a meeting of the Red Morton Center Fundraising
Committee is needed to develop an action plan and timeline. A workshop
entitled "The Art of Fund Raising" is being offered by CPRS on Wednesday,
October 12 from 8:00am-12:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Building in
Berkeley. Chairperson Swope, Commissioners Morton and Howard
(alternate) were all interested in attending. Commissioner Howard will
attend if Commissioner Davis cannot.

ITEM 3 - JOINT MEETING WITH CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION

Chairperson Swope said she spoke with Cultural Commission Chairperson
Jeff Filippi regarding the joint meeting. It was decided to hold the joint
meeting at our regularly scheduled November meeting. Since the fourth
