<br />. <br /> <br />-10 <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard reported she received a report from Heather Shotwell <br />regarding the Redwood Shores School/Community Center Committee's <br />visits to three different school sites in the Bay Area in order to obtain ideas in <br />the planning and development of the school/ community center in Red wood <br />Shores. Copies of this report will be sent to all the Commissioners. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - REDWOOD MORTON CENTER UPDATE <br /> <br />Director Griffiths reported the Red Ivlorton Center structure has been <br />demolished and debris is being taken away. Plans for a ground breaking <br />ceremony are being organized for October 13, 1994. Details will be sent to the <br />Commissioners. <br /> <br />Commissioner Howard asked if the trees removed during construction <br />would be replaced and Director Griffiths stated the trees would be replaced at <br />a ratio of 1.5 to 1. Commissioner Morton asked if he could obtain a list of <br />women and minority sub-contractors for the project and Director Griffiths <br />said he would request the list from the City Engineer in the Community <br />Development Department. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope said she spoke to Commissioner Davis regarding his <br />conversation with consultant Sandy Leib. Ms. Leib has indicated that she <br />charges $50.00 per hour and is not agreeable to come to an organizational <br />meeting at no charge. Supervisor Hannon will discuss this matter with Mark <br />Schatz and look into another fundraising consultant for the project. <br /> <br />Commissioner Morton mentioned OICW in Menlo Park had a $4.5 million <br />dollar fundraising project to relocate their facility which was held over a 2 1/2 <br />year period of time. He suggested contacting Tom Ford and Paul Cook who <br />were instrumental in organizing the fundraising for OICW. He felt a <br />brainstorming meeting with these two men could be very helpful to our <br />fundraising efforts. <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope felt that a meeting of the Red Morton Center Fundraising <br />Committee is needed to develop an action plan and timeline. A workshop <br />entitled "The Art of Fund Raising" is being offered by CPRS on Wednesday, <br />October 12 from 8:00am-12:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Building in <br />Berkeley. Chairperson Swope, Commissioners Morton and Howard <br />(alternate) were all interested in attending. Commissioner Howard will <br />attend if Commissioner Davis cannot. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - JOINT MEETING WITH CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> <br />Chairperson Swope said she spoke with Cultural Commission Chairperson <br />Jeff Filippi regarding the joint meeting.
