ITEM 2 - BELMONT SCHOOL DISTRICT-SANDPIPER PARK UPDATE Superintendent Seleznow reported that Director Griffiths met with the Belmont School District on January 18 and he suggested to them that a new architect be considered because the scope of the project has changed from conventional construction to modular structures and that the school grades and population will be reduced from K-5 450 students to K-3 250 students. Director Griffiths has indicated that if the Belmont School District is not ready to proceed on the project then the City should re-focus its efforts on addressing and develop ing the Community Center and the park portion of the project. Chairperson Swope felt the idea of modular classrooms would provide a less than optimum facility and that we need to produce a quality product for the community. She felt the City has been very accommodating to the School District and that she is very frustrated, angry and concerned about what is happening on this project. Commissioner Slusser felt there is a need to provide a central community facility in Redwood Shores and that City staff and people in the community have worked very hard to reach an agreement. He felt we need to communicate to the City Council that the Commission wants the agreement fulfilled. He ami.ounced there will be a Redwood Shores community meeting on January 30 at the Hotel Sofitel. ITEM 3 - CPRS CO NFEREN CE-SAN DIEG 0 Chairperson Swope and Commissioner Morton will be attending the CPRS Conference in San Diego in February and will report back at the March meeting. COMMI'ITEE REPORTS Commissioner Nordness announced he turned in his letter of resignation to Redwood City International effective January I, 1996. MONTHLY REPORTS There were no monthly reports. ANNOUNCEMENTS Commissioner Hughes announced "Irish Night" to be held on March 13, 1996 at Pete's Harbor House to benefit Kainos and she has tickets available for sale. " , " , . . .
