Director Griffiths <br />said any additions or provisions for "special categories" in the <br />ordinance would require an ordinance change. <br /> <br />Ms. Spangler suggested the Commission hold a study session (to <br />include the American Legion) to discuss both items. Chairman Swope <br />said this item would be put on next month1s agenda to appoint a <br />committee. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Buchan stated there was a great deal of interest in <br />this historic site and that the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />should be the group responsible for this project to evolve. She <br />encouraged the Commission to assume this lead role. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - SENORS SOFTBALL - AL ROLLINS (DISCUSSION ONLY) '. <br /> <br />Mr. Rollins had sent the Commission a letter requesting that the <br />Senors Softball League be considered as an interim user for the <br />synthetic turf at the 4ger practice field. He did also say the <br />League is in search of a permanent field to play on. Commissioner <br />Mortensen said because of the league rules for the 50+ league this <br />would be possible as no sliding or colliding is permitted. Director <br />Griffiths explained that a committee has been formed by the City <br />Council to review all requests for usage of the 4ger facility and <br />field. The Commission will forward this request on to the 4ger <br />Facility/PYC Committee. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - PAR COURSE <br /> <br />Staff had sent the Commission specifications on the Fit Core <br />Exercise Course that Mr. John Fisher would like to donate to the <br />department. The Commission was very impressed with such a gift and <br />the following motion was made: <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />M/S Mortensen/Howard to accept the par course donation from <br />Mr. John Fisher to be placed in Redwood Shores. <br /> <br />Motion approved unanimously. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - REDWOOD SHORES PARKS MASTER PLAN <br /> <br />Preliminary conceptual plans (designed by Singer and Hodges, Inc.) <br />for Marlin Park and Shannon Way Playground were displayed. The <br />Commission was asked for suggestions or changes. Commissioner <br />Howard asked if it was possible to add another restroom at one end <br />of Marlin Park. Director Griffiths estimated that would cost <br />approximately $60,000. Vice-chairman Weiss asked if a concession <br />
