<br />PAGE 7 <br />Emergency Management <br />Plan Policy <br /> <br />2.3.8 CITY EMPLOYEES-All City Employees are designated per State <br />Law and City Code as Emergency Service Workers and are <br />hereby deputized per Civil Defense rules under a declared <br />emergency to carry out the orders of established emergency <br />command sections with the provided limited immunity under <br />the Government Code. Every employee should know where they <br />report under the Policy/Command, Operations, Plans, or <br />logistics Sections of the Emergency Management Organization. <br /> <br />In the event of an emergency or disaster, every employee <br />shall attempt to call-in or contact their Department.. Not <br />withstanding the call-in requirement, all City Employees <br />are expected in an emergency or disaster encouraged to act <br />as follows: <br /> <br />1.) Attend to the immediate physical safety of your- <br />self and those immediately around you; <br /> <br />2.) Contact or see to the safety of your immediate <br />family; develop a Family Plan and establish a <br />family call-in phone contact in advance, <br />preferably with a relative out of State or out <br />of the region, or through the City; then, <br /> <br />3.) Report to work when directed to do so after trying <br />to call-in or when called-back to work, or report <br />in immediately if unable to contact your Depart- <br />ment or the City; if unable to get to the City, <br />report to the nearest City or County government <br />agency as a volunteer employee paid by Redwood <br />City. <br /> <br />In the event of a partial or full activation of the Emergency <br />Operations Organization, City Employees are expected to <br />call-in and report to work when so directed. Those reporting <br />late in an emergency may be granted a reasonable grace period <br />by the Human Resources Director due to travel difficulties.. <br />Those unable to report to work or otherwise remaining away <br />from work may be allowed to use vacation/leave or will be on <br />no pay status as established by the City Personnel Rules and <br />applicable Memorandum of Understanding. In an emergency <br />situation, employees may be assigned to a variety of duties <br />other than their normal assignments but generally related to <br />their knowledge, skills and abilities under their job class <br />description. Those reporting to another City or County <br />shall be treated as City employees assigned to another <br />agency and shall be compensated and otherwise covered as <br />City employees upon proof of service attendance in another <br />agency. Those reporting to work at the City shall be <br />governed by established regular time, overtime and call-back <br />rules per Memorandum of Understanding and City rules.. <br /> <br />11402 <br />
