<br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of January 26, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - PARK INSPECTION PROGRAM <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the park inspection program and the need for the <br />Commissioners to visit their assigned parks and turn in their inspection reports. <br />Newly elected Chairperson Don Davis asked to review the inspection reports in <br />order to tabulate the comments received from park patrons. <br /> <br />ITEM 4- UPDATES <br /> <br />-Strategic Planning Committee <br />Commissioner Swope reported there is good representation from all groups on <br />the committee and that they are close to completing an inventory of resources. <br />The committee is planning on having four community meetings at different <br />locations to obtain as much feedback as possible from the public. Facilitator for <br />the meeting will be MIG staff. The meeting schedule is: February 29 at 7:30pm <br />at Sandpiper Community Center; March 1 at 7:30pm at City Council Chambers; <br />March 4 at 2:00pm at Red Morton Park; and March 7 at 7:30pm at Fair Oaks <br />Community Center. Commissioner Swope reported that the meetings will be <br />publicized on our web site and advertised on flyers throughout the community. <br />She stated that a quick survey will be prepared for people attending the public <br />meetings in order to help give the committee as much information as possible. <br />Commissioner Swope thanked Superintendents Centeno and Hover, Director <br />Griffiths, and Commissioners Davis and Joseph for their assistance on the <br />co m m ittee . <br /> <br />-Stulsaft Park Remediation <br />Superintendent Hover reported that there will be a public meeting on February <br />10 in the City Council Chambers to discuss the results of the consultant's <br />findings. The State and County have approved the process and we should be <br />able to proceed. <br /> <br />-Maddux Park Renovation <br />A public meeting will be held on Saturday, February 12 from 1 O:OOam-1 :OOpm at <br />Maddux Park to review a schematic plan by MIG and to hear public comments <br />about what people would like to include in the park design. <br /> <br />-Park Ordinance Update <br />Superintendent Hover thanked Commissioners Davis and Slusser for their <br />support at the City Council meeting where the ordinances were presented. The <br />City Council has passed the ordinances and they will go into effect very soon. <br />New park signs are being developed due to the changes. <br /> <br />-Skate Park Update <br />An update on this project will be presented at the February meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - CANADA GEESE ISSUE IN REDWOOD SHORES <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reviewed with the Commissioners the problems we are <br />having with Canada geese in Redwood Shores parks. He mentioned he will be <br />attending an Urban Canada Geese Management Information meeting on March <br />15 in Fremont to see how other cities are dealing with the issue.
