The new fire station will open on December 15. <br />Commissioner Joseph asked about expectations and budget for Spinas Park <br />and requested that Mr. Griffiths come to the January meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-School Fields <br />Superintendent Hover reported that Taft field is currently in the maintenance <br />period and he is interested in keeping the field out of service until after <br />January. He noted that staff is obtaining quotes to raise the height of the <br />fence to ten feet and we are considering physically locking the field down <br />each night to prevent overuse. He reported that other cities issue permits for <br />field use and have the Police Department enforce it. <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reported that Garfield field renovation will go out to bid <br />as soon as the school removes the portable buildings on their field. He noted <br />that negotiations for the design for Hoover field is under way. <br /> <br />-Stulsaft Park <br />Superintendent Hover stated that the renovation of Stulsaft Park is <br />progressing along. Staff is working on correcting play equipment that was <br />received in the wrong color. The project should be completed in <br />approximately mid to late December and a grand opening will be planned <br />after the new year. <br /> <br />-Adopt-A-Park <br />Commissioner Joseph reported that Wegman's Nursery has been generously <br />donating plants for NorthStar to use at Stafford Park. It was noted that <br />McKinley has also adopted Stafford Park. <br /> <br />-Windmill Project <br />Commissioner Joseph announced that the windmill model has been placed in <br />front of the Senior Center and Commissioner Truscelll has collected an <br />additional $135.00 towards the project. Commissioner Joseph stated that <br />Jim Gordon representing the Redwood City Elks, have expressed interest in <br />participating in the renovation of the windmill in addition to making a <br />donation. Commissioner Joseph said a fundraising pasta dinner is planned <br />for Saturday, February 24 at the Senior Center. It was noted that at the <br />October 25 Commission meeting, it was reported that almost $2,000 had <br />been raised on this project. The figure should have been $1,132.00. <br /> <br />It was reported that architect Morton Frank is working on the renderings for <br />the project. The windmill project will be on the agenda of the Historic <br />Resources Advisory Committee next month. The next meeting of the <br />Windmill Restoration Committee will be on December 6. <br />
