<br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of January 24, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Manager Beth provided an update on the skatepark for the Commissioners. <br />He announced a Skateboard Task Force meeting will be held on February 7 at <br />7:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. Two skatepark proposals <br />were received in response to our RFP and the interviews will be held on <br />January 30. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-School Fields <br />Superintendent Hover announced that Taft field is complete and that the City <br />is responsible for its maintenance. The field is being closed until April to help <br />the new turf develop, and a fence will be placed around the turf during this <br />period. Manager Chris Beth will be responsible for handling the scheduling of <br />this field. <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reported that Garfield field renovation will begin after <br />the school completes their school construction project. He also reported that <br />Peter Griffiths is currently working on Hoover School field and Fair Oaks field <br />renovation projects. <br /> <br />-Stulsaft Park <br />Superintendent Hover announced the project more than 90% complete and <br />the grand opening is planned for early spring. He also spoke about article on <br />Stulsaft Park in the Independent Newspaper written by John Baker. <br /> <br />-Adopt-A-Park <br />Chairperson Joseph reported that Northstar did a cleanup at Stafford Park <br />last weekend. The Adopt-A-Park group will meet in February to discuss <br />things staff can do to assist and guide volunteers in maintaining an adopted <br />park or site. <br /> <br />-Trees in Redwood Shores <br />Superintendent Hover reported the infected tree at 485 Tiller Lane was <br />removed and two trees were replanted in the same location. <br /> <br />-Skate Park <br />Item was reported on earlier by Manager Chris Beth. <br /> <br />-Windmill Project <br />Commissioner Joseph shared architect Morton Frank's proposed conceptual <br />design for the windmill project. The next meeting of the Windmill committee <br />will be held on February 7 and Windmill website committee on January 31. <br />Another donation was received to the project bringing the balance to <br />$1932.00. <br /> <br /> <br />, -.., -.., <br /> <br />, - <br />
