<br />~ <br /> <br />,. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of April 25, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />ITEM 6- UPDATES <br /> <br />-School Fields <br />Superintendent Hover reported the fence has been removed at Taft School; <br />aeration and top dressing occurred at the site. The Department has received <br />calls requesting raising the height of the fence on 8th Avenue to 20 to 251 to <br />prevent balls from hitting parked cars. <br /> <br />Garfield Field is in the construction phase. Hoover Field renovation will be <br />funded by Proposition 12 funds and Community Development Block Grant <br />funds. <br /> <br />-Spinas Park <br />Superintendent Hover reported the design phase is in process for this <br />project. <br /> <br />-Strategic Plan <br />Commissioner Swope reported that the next step in the process will be to <br />look at different organizations in Redwood City in order to reach different <br />demographic groups. The co.mmittee would like to send "teams" out to group <br />meetings to explain the process and to distribute a questionnaire. May 7 is <br />the next strategic committee meeting. Marilyn Manning will be facilitating a <br />future meeting. <br /> <br />- Downtown Task Force <br />Superintendent Hover reported that the Downtown Task Force is scheduled <br />to wrap up on June 30. Interim Community Development Director Bruce <br />liedstrand is now working with this group. <br /> <br />-Windmill Project <br />Chairperson Joseph reported the last Windmill meeting was cancelled. The <br />committee is looking to schedute a meeting with John Anagnostou. <br /> <br />-Proposition 12 <br />Superintendent Hover reported he attended a meeting in Sacramento on this <br />program and announced there will be $708,000 in funding available to <br />Redwood City. Paperwork to apply for funding will be available from the <br />State at the end of May. There will also be $227,000 available in Roberti- <br />Z'Berg funding next year. <br /> <br />-Landscape Maintenance Performance Audit <br />Superintendent Hover reported that he is preparing an RFP for a consultant <br />to perform a performance audit of the landscape Maintenance section. <br /> <br /> <br />, , <br /> <br />. .
