<br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of October 24, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />issue and that facilities such as the new PAL building on the Taft School <br />campus are steps in the right direction. <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph requested that Recreation Supervisors Mark Yasuda <br />(Teens) and Jodi Shepard (Youth) make a report about their programs at the <br />January Commission meeting. It was suggested that the Commission provide <br />a liaison to the Youth Advisory Committee and Chairperson Joseph <br />volunteered to be the liaison. It was suggested that Maria Fernandez of <br />Redwood City 2020 make a report to the Commission relàtive to the study. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-Dog Park Rules <br />Superintendent Hover stated that a Parks employee was bitten at Shore Dogs <br />Park and that staff would like to update the rules and regulations of the <br />facility to prevent further incidents. The revised rules would limit the number <br />of dogs brought into the site to 3 dogs. <br /> <br />-Spinas Park <br />Superintendent Hover reviewed a map of the proposed park renovation. <br />Estimated cost is $350,000 for the park renovation; cost including restroom <br />renovation would be $500,000. The Commissioners discussed the <br />community's support of a water feature at Spinas Park. <br /> <br />MIS LaBerge/Truscelli: To have the Commission approve the design <br />development plans for Spinas Park. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />-Strategic Plan <br />Director Centeno stated that she and Commissioner Swope are working on <br />the Plan Presentation. She will be contacting Commissione'r Swope to set up <br />the next committee meeting. <br /> <br />-Maddux Park <br />Superintendent Hover reported that the project is just breaking ground. <br />Restrooms will be included in this project and at Stulsaft Park. <br /> <br />-Skate Park <br />Director Centeno reported the first design meeting was held with the <br />consultant and 60+ students who participated in the meeting. Each student <br />was given clay to create their interpretation of what they wanted in a skate <br />park. The consultant has taken that information and will use this to develop <br />a skate park design which will be presented at a meeting scheduled for <br />November 23. <br /> <br />
