PUMP STATIONS #15
SCOPE OF SERVICES

CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
August 23, 2005

Phase C.

Preliminary Design Study

This phase includes a preliminary design layout and memorandum that will be the basis for the
development of the final design. The tasks include but are not limited to the following:

1. Review the existing pumping conditions using the 7.4 HP and 9.4 HP pumps. During a site
inspection pump data and pump cycle time measurements will be collected. This data,
along with running time measurements nom the City's historical records, will allow an
estimate of the performance of the existing pump.

2. Review wet well volume and pump cycle time with 20 HP pumps. Establish whether City
standard Flygt pump model CP3l53 will work.

3. Develop three pump station modification alternatives. Possible alternatives are a separate
valve vault with the wet and dry wells modified using the existing 48" RCP manways or
modifying the walls or a modified dry well with the valve vault on top of the existing wet
well. A preliminary cost estimate will be prepared for each alternative.

4. Provide concept for discharge pipe alignment.

5. Recommend coating material to rehabilitate the wet well.

Six (6) sets of preliminary design study will be presented to the City for review. One meeting is
scheduled with City staff after review of the preliminary design study submittal. The goal of the
scheduled meeting is to come to consensus on the design elements and layout and move directly
into the 65% design submittal.

Phase D.

Design Development

Task 1. Sixty-Five Percent (65%) Submittal

Prepare for review by City, sixty-five percent (65%) complete construction documents consisting
of drawings showing all plan views, profiles, cross-sections, general notes, detailing of major
components, construction notes, utility connection points, outline specification and other
documents, including, but not limited to, details, catalog cuts and product literature for all
products, and engineering calculations.

Six (6) sets of sixty-five percent (65%) plans, outline specifications, and Engineer's Estimate
will be presented to the City for 65% review submittal. A marked set will be returned along with
City staffs comments and/or request for clarifications to Nolte for revision. One meeting is
scheduled with the City staff after review of the 65% submittal.

Task 2. One-Hundred Percent (100%) Submittal

Revise material, as necessary, to incorporate review comments received at the sixty-five percent
(65%) submittal. Prepare for review by the City one-hundred percent (100%) complete
construction documents consisting of drawings showing demolition, site plan view, general and

NOLTE ASSOCIATES, INC.

2 of4
N:\BDSV A\Redwood City (City of)\Pump Station # 15\doc\scope_1 5R2.doc
