<br />. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of May 22, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - 4th of July Float <br /> <br />Chair~erson Joseph received support from the Commission for participating in <br />the 4 t of July Parade. Superintendent Beth noted that the Youth Advisory <br />Committee had expressed interest in participating and would be moving forward <br />with a skate park theme. Commissioner Davis has agreed to complete work on <br />the chassis for the Park and Recreation Commission float. It was agreed that the <br />float would have a Pet Parade theme and announce the date for the next parade. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - Updates <br /> <br />Hoover and Gameld Fields - Superintendent Hover shared information on the <br />newspaper coverage and issues surrounding the award of bid for the <br />construction of Hoover Field. He noted it is closed for playas work proceeds. <br />Garfield School field will be dedicated on Wednesday, June 5,2002 starting at <br />4:30 p.m. with dignitaries, a soccer demonstration and a baseball game at <br />5:30 p.m. All Commissioners were invited to attend. Superintendent Hover <br />noted that approval from the State for use of their funds for Hoover Field has <br />been received. <br /> <br />Spinas Park - Currently awaiting 950/0 drawings, which can be taken back to the <br />neighborhood/commission design committee. <br /> <br />Skate Park/Restroom/Concession Stand - This item was covered under Item <br />1 on this agenda. <br /> <br />Windmill Renovation Project. Chairperson Joseph reported that she had made <br />initial contact with John Anagnostou and would be setting up a further meeting to <br />discuss his support of the windmill restoration project. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - Discussion of Parks and Recreation Commission Calendar and <br />Future Events <br /> <br />The Maddux Park Grand Opening was well attended and seemed to be enjoyed <br />by al L <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Walsh indicated he would not be able to attend the June <br />meeting as scheduled and Commissioner Swope noted she would also be out of <br />town.
