Director Centeno spoke <br />about our involvement of the Skate Park Task Force, the range of parks <br />operated unsupervised to supervised, and the approval by the Commission of <br />the current operation. She noted the operation could be changed. <br />Commissioner Yapp felt this subject keeps coming up at Commission <br />meetings and felt we should look at the experience of other cities skate parks <br />and 'he would like us to look at what makes sense. Director Centeno asked <br />the Commission for consensus on how they would like staff to proceed. She <br />will take this matter back to the Skate Park Task Force and ask them for <br />ways to enforce the helmet regulation. <br /> <br />-Fair Oaks School Field <br />Superintendent Hover reported City Council will approve an agreement with <br />The Beals Group at their August 11 meeting and the bid will awarded in <br />September. He mentioned there will be a provision for conduit to be installed <br />as part of the project which will allow for lights to be installed in the future. <br /> <br />-Youth and Teen Advisory Boards <br />The Commissioners discussed the letter from Teen Advisory Board Member <br />Eileen Parker and how the Commission could work with the youth and teen <br />advisory boards more effectively. <br /> <br />-B udget <br />Director Centeno announced that Council will formally approve the budget at <br />their August 11 meeting. She spoke about possible budget cuts of 10-20% <br />during Fiscal Year 2004-2005. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - P & R COMMISSION PARK TOUR AND SOCIAL <br /> <br />Chairperson Walsh reminded the Commissioners that Saturday, September <br />13 from 11 :30am-3 :OOpm was selected for the Commission Park Tour and <br />lunch. A draft agenda for the tour was reviewed with the Commissioners. It <br />was suggested that the City Council be invited to attend. . <br /> <br />ITEM 7 - DISCUSSION OF PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CALEN DAR <br /> <br />-Brainstorming Session <br />Chairperson Walsh discussed having a þrainstorming session on Saturday, <br />November 1 from 9:00am-12noon. Staff will see if either Sandpiper or Fair <br />Oaks Community Centers are available as a meeting location. <br /> <br />-Health and Wellness Fair <br />The Commission was invited to have a booth at the fair to be held at the <br />Senior Center on September 13. The Commissioners declined the invitation <br />becausè it is the same date as their Park Tour. <br /> <br /> <br />
