<br />1 <br />, <br /> <br />. <br />, <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of May 25, 2005 <br /> <br />, ' Page 3 <br /> <br />asked that Superintendent Hover be included in discussions as he would <br />coordinate staff support of the float. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - UPDATES <br /> <br />- Parks List <br />This item was covered under the Parks Development Ordinance Update. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Budget Update <br />Director Centeno announced that the City Council would be holding <br />budget study sessions on Monday, June 20th and Monday, June 2th, <br />Recommendations for the Department remain the same as reported last <br />month., Looking to the future, it would appear that ongoing revenues and <br />expenditures are coming more into line. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />, Parks for the Future <br />Director Centeno reported about the effort, led by the San Mateo County <br />Parks Foundation, to secure permanent funding for parks throughout the <br />. County via a lIB-cent sales tax, which would yield about $16,000,000 per <br />year in new revenues. Currently, representatives of City Managers from <br />various cities and County representatives are working to see if agreement <br />can be reached around funding percentages and maintenance of effort. <br /> <br />- Concerts in the Park <br />Superintendent Beth provided information on the Stafford Park and <br />Downtown Live concerts, as well as the Kids Concert cosponsored by the <br />Redwood City Mothers Club and Whole Foods, which will be held in Red <br />Morton Park on Saturday, July 23rd from 3-5 pm. He reported that the <br />Stafford Series was almost entirely funded by donations from the Port of <br />Redwood City ($5,500) and San Mateo Credit Union ($1,500) and <br />Downtown Live was supported by a grant from the City's Redevelopment <br />Agency. <br /> <br />- Community Gardens <br />Director Centeno commented on documents contained in the packet <br />requesting permission to develop a community garden on part of the <br />Hetch-Hetchy right of way <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF NEW COMMISSION CALENDAR <br /> <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission calendar was inadvertently left out of <br />. the packet and would be mailed to Commissioners after the meeting. With <br />respect to the Park Tour for Commissioners, staff needs to follow"up with a <br />suggested Saturday from approximately 10-1 pm. <br />
