The following description of
anticipated modifications is intended to provide sufficient detail to enable the City to evaluate
whether the proposed improvements would result in a new significant impact, or a substantial
increase in the severity of a significant impact identified in the EIR prepared for the Midpoint
Technology Center.

1.

Interior Renovations

In order to use the existing buildings for outpatient clinic functions, the interior of the buildings
will be renovated, including HV AC, electrical, elevators, equipment, furnishings, and
information technology. SHC will obtain building permits prior to performing interior
renovations.

As part of the building permit application process, SHC will provide specific information
regarding the interior locations of various types of clinical and surgical facilities in order to
ensure that the Redwood City Fire Department has sufficient information to provide emergency
protection services. SHC also will meet all requirements associated with the applicable
occupancy classification of the renovated structures, including:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

smoke barriers (DBC 308)
manual fire alarm system (UFC 1006.2.7)
automatic fire alarm system (UFC 1006.2.7)
occupancy separations (UBC 302)
more restrictive requirements for the fire protection of exterior walls (UBC 503)
information about any exceedance of the basic allowable floor area (UBC 504)

2.

Exterior Modifications

WC/30171463.1
