Complete Downtown library improvements <br />Continue to deliver the library's Summer Learning Challenge program <br />Complete the Fair Oaks Library expansion within its current location <br />A new welcome desk in the library lobby to welcome and assist library N <br />patrons is complete. The Downtown Library will see new carpet installea <br />later this year. <br />The 2017 Summer Learning Challenge had the highest sign-ups yet with <br />over 25,200 sign-ups. <br />Fair Oaks Branch Library will close on January 31 and the temporary <br />location within the Fair Oaks Community Center will open on February 5. <br />Construction will begin on February 1. City staff anticipates the new <br />expanded and renovated library branch will reopen in June 2018. <br />Start construction on the Magical Bridge playground at Red Morton Park The Magical Bridge playground groundbreaking took place in the fall 2017. <br />It is anticipated the new park will open to the public in the winter of 2018 or <br />early 2019. <br />Complete the Linden Park renovation project <br />Complete a Park Needs Assessment <br />Finalize the Downtown Park Feasibility Study <br />Launch the Marlin and Sandpiper Synthetic Turf renovation project <br />Complete the Public Art Master Vision process <br />Work with the Redwood City Improvement Association (RCIA) on new <br />public art projects <br />A grand opening took place in the summer of 2017 with a strong <br />community turnout to help celebrate. <br />A park needs assessment is underway and will be complete summer 2018. <br />A Downtown Parks Site Assessment and Feasibility Study has begun. The <br />City Council will review and rank potential park sites on March 12 and <br />community engagement efforts will follow. An additional update to the City <br />Council is scheduled for May 21. <br />Renovations began at the end of November and anticipated completion is <br />set for February 2018. <br />City staff hosted various workshops in the fall and released an online survey <br />in October. A visioning document in currently in development for Council <br />consideration on April 9. <br />RCIA funded $30,000 to support public art initiatives including Shadow Art, <br />murals, new electronic art boards and the 3D art show. RCIA also unveiled <br />the storefront interactive public art through electronic images.
