<br /> 7 <br />Ms. Bruce stated that once you graduate, you are a part of the family for life. She stated they <br />offer ongoing help for life including therapy, counseling, and case management. <br /> <br />StarVista <br /> <br />Peter Ehrhorn, Director of the Department of Youth Empowerment Services, gave a <br />presentation on StarVista’s Your House South program. He introduced Alicia Siese, Program <br />Manager at Your House South. He explained why StarVista is seeking funding for this <br />particular program. He apologized for any mistakes in their application. <br /> <br />Ms. Siese provided an overview of the services that Your House South provides to the <br />community. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Recht asked for clarification as to how many people in Redwood City they served. <br /> <br />Mr. Ehrhorn helped provided some clarification as to how many people they serve. He stated <br />that they have the Runaway Homeless Youth population for those that come in for shorter <br />stays and then the group home. He provided some statistics as to how large these groups <br />are. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Recht asked if they provide any continuing services after they leave the house. <br /> <br />Mr. Ehrhorn stated that because it is a short stay of approximately 21 days, they provide 3 <br />months of after-care. He stated that this is to ensure maintenance of the success of family <br />therapy. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Recht asked how often they are open. <br /> <br />Mr. Ehrhorn stated they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. <br /> <br />Committee Member Montalvo asked what happens when they are at capacity. <br /> <br />Mr. Ehrhorn stated they are increasing to double their capacity and when they do not have <br />space, they work to help someone find another location that they can go to. <br /> <br />Committee Member Becker asked why they lost some of their funding. <br /> <br />Mr. Ehrhorn explained that some local government funding pivoted away from non-child <br />welfare youth and wanted to move those funds back to those that are in the foster care <br />system. <br /> <br />Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County <br />Chair Miller called Legal Aid Society multiple times to speak but no one from their <br />organization was in attendance to speak. <br /> <br />9.
