<br /> <br /> <br />POLICE BODY‐WORN CAMERAS <br />TECHNOLOGY <br /> <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The purpose of this project is to cover the costs associated with <br />implementation of a Police Body‐Worn Camera program. The Police <br />Department recognizes the inherent benefit that body camera evidence <br />provides. Based upon the direction of the San Mateo County Civil Grand <br />Jury, the Police Department has developed a proposed implementation <br />plan for body‐worn cameras. <br />PROJECT BENEFITS <br /> Transparent reviews of officer performance. <br /> Decreases false claims against officers and lessens civil liabilities. <br /> Increases speed at which criminal prosecutions conclude. <br />PROJECT STATUS <br />The implementation plan is complete and estimated costs have been prepared.
