The disclosure shall indicate the
specifications for the installed air filtration system.

F. NOISE
NOI-1: The proposed project
and the project variant would
locate residential land uses in
an area that, based on the City’s
Noise and Land Use
Compatibility Guidelines, is
generally considered an
unacceptable noise environment
for residential land uses.
NOI-1: Prior to issuance of building permits, the applicant
shall prepare an acoustical study that demonstrates how
residential units will meet the habitable room noise
insulation standard of 45 dBA CNEL. The residential units
shall include design features such as the following, or
others approved by the City after review of the acoustical
study, to the extent necessary to meet the 45 dBA CNEL
standard for each unit:
• In order for windows and doors to remain closed,
provide mechanical ventilation such as air conditioning.
• Install windows and glass doors rated STC 33 or higher
in all units located within 170 feet of US 101.
• Construct exterior walls with a minimum STC rating of
STC-46.
• Install vent ducts connecting interior spaces to the
exterior (i.e., bathroom exhaust, etc.) with at least two
90 degree turns in the duct.
• Install windows and doors in an acoustically-effective
manner. Install sliding-window panels with an air-tight
seal when in the closed position and the window frames
caulked to the wall opening around the perimeter with a
non-hardening caulking compound to prevent sound
infiltration. Install exterior doors with an air-tight seal
around the full perimeter when in the closed position.
Prior to issuance
of building
permits
Project Applicant Redwood City
Community
Development
Director 7.A. - Page 75
