1368 of the load multiplied by the then -current per -Ton fee for transfer, transport, and <br />1369 Disposal pursuant to the agreement between the SBWMA and Operator. <br />1370 6.03 CONTRACTOR METHODS OF CONTROLLING CONTAMINATION <br />1371 A. General. Contractor shall assist in controlling Contamination Levels by helping to <br />1372 educate Customers on acceptable and non -acceptable materials, by monitoring the <br />1373 contents of Collection Containers and by refusing to Collect Containers of Targeted <br />1374 Recyclable Materials, Plant Materials, and Organic Materials that appear to exceed <br />1375 the maximum Contamination Levels in Section 6.02 Table 1, all as and to the extent <br />1376 set forth in this Section 6.03. <br />1377 Drivers that dismount from Collection vehicles in order to empty Containers shall lift <br />1378 the Container lid and observe the contents. If Contamination appears to be present <br />1379 in excess of the applicable maximum Contamination Level, the driver will not empty <br />1380 the Container, but will instead affix a "non -collection notice." The non -collection <br />1381 notice shall (i) inform the Customer of the reason(s) for non -collection, (ii) include <br />1382 the date and time the notice was left, and (iii) describe the premium Charge to <br />1383 Customer for Contractor to return and Collect the Container after Customer <br />1384 removes the Contamination. The driver shall document the non -collection event <br />1385 and a customer service representative shall update the Customer's computerized <br />1386 account record to note the event. Upon request from Customer, Contractor shall <br />1387 Collect Containers that received non -collection notices within one (1) Business Day <br />1388 of Customer's request if the request is made at least two (2) Business Days prior to <br />1389 the regularly scheduled Collection Day. Contractor shall bill Customer for the extra <br />1390 Collection service event ("extra pick-up") at Agency -approved Charges specified in <br />1391 Attachment O only if Contractor notifies Customer of the premium Charge for this <br />1392 service at the time the request is made by Customer. <br />1393 Drivers providing automated Collection service shall observe, via the hopper video <br />1394 camera and monitor system, the contents of the Containers as it is being emptied <br />1395 into the vehicle. If the driver observes Contamination in excess of the applicable <br />1396 maximum Contamination Level, the driver shall affix a "courtesy notice" to the <br />1397 emptied Container. The courtesy notice shall (i) inform the Customer of the <br />1398 observed presence of unacceptable levels of Contamination, (ii) include the date <br />1399 and time the notice was left, (iii) describe the premium charge to Customer for <br />1400 Contractor to return and Collect Contaminated Containers after Customer removes <br />1401 the Contamination. The next day on which that Customer is to receive service, the <br />1402 driver shall dismount the Collection vehicle, lift the lid of the Container, and visually <br />1403 inspect the contents. If the driver determines that the Container again contains <br />1404 excess Contamination, the Container shall not be Collected. Instead, the driver will <br />1405 record the non -collection event in the on -board computer system and shall affix a <br />1406 non -collection notice to the Container. <br />1407 If a driver observes Hazardous Materials in an uncollected Container, the driver <br />1408 shall record that observation in the on -board computer system and also inform the <br />1409 route supervisor. The route supervisor shall investigate and initiate applicable <br />1410 action within one (1) Business Day. <br />1411 Whenever a Container at a Commercial or a Multi -Family Dwelling Complex <br />1412 Customer is not Collected, Contractor shall contact the Customer on the scheduled <br />1413 Collection Day by telephone to explain why the Container was not Collected. <br />REV: 03-16-18 MI <br />Page 36 of 126 <br />ATTY/AGR.2018.054/Recology of San Mateo <br />
