<br /> Page 2 <br />Community Council of Redwood City is seeking funding to help sponsor Fiestas de Patrias, an <br />annual celebration honoring the ethnic heritage of our Latin American residents held on September <br />16th, 2018 on the Courthouse Square in Redwood City. <br />Funding Requested: $1,500 Funding Recommended: $1,100. <br /> <br /> <br />Masterworks Chorale. Masterworks Chorale exists to offer inspired performances of exceptional <br />choral music for the enrichment of our community, striving to create a meaningful experience for <br />patron and performer. The 100 audition members of the choir will present its fourth and final <br />concert of the 2018-2019 season in May 2019, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Redwood City <br />featuring Missa Criolla by Argentine composter Arial Ramirez & Nocturnes by Morten Johannes <br />Lauridsen. Funding will help support their last concert in Redwood City <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $1,000. <br /> <br /> <br />OYE Latinx Youth Conference. In collaboration with the Redwood City Parks and Arts <br />Foundation, the OYE Conference is a youth-adult partnership with roots in the Latinx Community of <br />Redwood City and North Fair Oaks. The Conference brings together 350 youth, young adults, and <br />parents with community supporters to explore ideas on Latinx culture and identity, obstacles <br />Latinos face, and opportunities for the future though interactive workshops, keynote speakers, <br />performers and community networking. Funds raised through sponsorship support direct <br />conference including the programming, entertainment, food, and facility use. <br />Funding Requested: $3,000 Funding Recommended: $1,600. <br /> <br /> <br />Paul Longmore Institute on Disability – San Francisco State University. The Paul K. <br />Longmore Institute on Disability at San Francisco State University has recently launched an <br />initiative to bring Superfest Disability Film Festival to new constituents who do not otherwise have <br />access to core events via “Superfest Showcases,” which are free public screenings of the previous <br />year’s selected films. The initiative is seeking funding to bring a “Superfest Showcase” to Redwood <br />City’s Movies on the Square on Wednesday, August 29th, 2018. <br />Funding Requested: $1,955 Funding Recommended: $1,700. <br /> <br /> <br />Peninsula Symphony. The Peninsula Symphony is requesting funds to cover expenses to help <br />offset costs for producing a series concert at the Fox Theater in January 2019, featuring jazz <br />legends David Benoit, Taylor Eigsti, and Chris and Dan Brubeck, and for providing outreach by the <br />artists to high schools in Redwood City leading up to performance. <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $2,000. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City Community Theatre. Redwood City Community Theatre promotes auditions and <br />production participation to teens and to the adult and senior community through contacts in other <br />community theaters and locations. Funds requested are to provide funding for the musical theater <br />production of “Wedding Singer, the Musical,” drawing a cast from Redwood City and surrounding <br />communities. <br />Funding Requested: $3,000 Funding Recommended: $1,250. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City Education Foundation. Redwood City Education Foundation’s mission is to assist <br />the Redwood City School District in preserving the music program in all schools in the District. This <br />funding request is to provide music education in 16 elementary schools, serving up to 7,800 <br />students in grades 1-5 during School Year 2018-2019. <br />Funding Requested: $8,500 Funding Recommended: $8,500. <br /> <br /> <br />6.1.G. - Page 5
