6.13. - Page 81 of 366 <br />article, immediate family means spouse, domestic partner (as defined and <br />recognized under state law), child, stepchild or parent. <br />An employee may use up to one-half (112) of accrued sick leave in any_calendar <br />year for the following reasons:. <br />A. For the diagnosis, care, or treatment of an existing _health condition or <br />preventative care for an employee's grandparent, grandchild or sibling, <br />B. To obtain any relief or services related to being _av_ictim of domestic <br />violence, sexual assault, or stalking including the following with appropriate <br />certification of the need for such services: <br />• A temporary restraining order or restraining order. <br />• Other injunctive relief to help ensure the health, safety or welfare <br />of themselves or their children, <br />• To seek medical attention for injuries caused by domestic <br />violence, sexual assault, or stalking. <br />• To obtain services from a domestic violence shelter, program or <br />rape crisis center as a result of domestic violence sexual <br />assault, or stalking. <br />• To obtain psychological counseling related to an experience of <br />domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. <br />• To participate in safety planning and take other actions to <br />increase safety from future domestic violence sexual assault or <br />stalking, including temporary or permanent relocation. <br />16.1.3 For Battalion Chiefs assigned to a forty (40) hour workweek Fire Marshal and <br />the Deputy Fire Chief, uUnused sick leave may be accumulated to maximum <br />sick leave credits of one -thousand two -hundred (1200) hours. <br />For Battalion Chiefs who work a fifty-six (56) hour work week unused sick leave <br />may be accumulated to a maximum sick leave credit of two -thousand four - <br />hundred (2400) hours. If the Deputy Chiefs converted sick leave upon <br />promotion from Battalion Chief assigned to a fifty-six (56) hour schedule exceeds <br />1200 hours, the city will cash out sick leave in excess of 1200 hours at a fifty <br />percent (50%) rate. <br />16.1.4 In the event an employee has accumulated the maximum sick leave credits of <br />one -thousand two -hundred (1200) hours (2400 hours for Battalion Chiefs <br />assigned to a fifty-six (56) hour work schedule) and the employee becomes so <br />severely ill that he or she exhausts his or her sick leave, the Personnel Officer <br />may, upon the written recommendation from the employee's Fire Chief, authorize <br />additional sick leave to include any sick leave in excess of the one -thousand two - <br />hundred (1200) hours (2400 hours for Battalion Chiefs who work a fifty-six (56) <br />hour work week) maximum which may have been lost due to the maximum <br />limitation; provided, however, that sick leave credits were not accumulated for a <br />period of six (6) months or longer.
