6.B. - Page 165 of 366 <br />Police Officers and Police Officer Trainees who are regularly assigned to swing <br />shift (C -Watch) or night shift (A -Watch) shall receive premium pay in the amount <br />of five percent (501o) of the officer's base pay. <br />Police Officers who are not assigned to swing shift (C -watch) but who have awe <br />majority of whose their regularly scheduled work hours fall after 1400 hours (2:00 <br />p.m.)-,) shall receive premium pay in the amount of five percent J5110) of the <br />officer's base pay for all hours worked on their regularly scheduled shift. <br />7.5 Bilingual Premium <br />The City, with Department Head approval, shall pay a differential of two and one <br />half percent 2.5%) of base pay to employees who are routinely and consistently <br />assigned to positions requiring or using communication skills in Spanish, are <br />proficient in Spanish, and who successfully pass a proficiency examination. <br />The City, with Department Head approval, shall pay a differential of five Pent <br />J5%) of base pay to employees who are routinely and consistently_ assigned to <br />positions requiring or using communication skills in Spanish, and who can <br />translate Spanish well enough to conduct intense suspect and victim interviews at <br />a level that will hold up in court. Officers that accept the five percent (51/o) pay <br />would be required to agree, when called upon, to translate city wide and be a <br />spokesperson for the police department when communications between the <br />Spanish press and the police department are needed. <br />To retain either the two and one half percent 2.5%) or the five percent (5110) <br />differential, employees will be required to pass a bi-annual recertification <br />proficiency examination. <br />7.6 Officer -In -Charge Pay <br />When a Police Officer is assigned by the Police Chief or his/her designee to act as <br />the Officer -In -Charge for a period of two (2) hours or more, such Police Officer <br />shall be paid an additional five percent (5%) of his/her regular hourly rate of pay <br />for all hours so assigned. <br />7.7 Court Pa <br />Effective October 29 2018, aAn off-duty employee who is mandated to appear in <br />court in cases in which the City is a parry shall be compensated at one and one- <br />half (1-112) times the employee's regular straight -time rate for all hours the <br />employee is so ordered by the City to appear with a minimum of feur(4) five 5 <br />hours.
