6.B. - Page 167 of 366 <br />Police Officers who obtain a P.O.S.T. Advanced Certificate shall receive <br />eEducational Iincentive pay equal to an additional two and one-half percent <br />2.5% for a total of five percent k5.001o) of base salary. Effective October 29 <br />201$ Educational Incentive for a P.O.S.T. Advanced Certificate shall be <br />increased by one percent (1%), such that Police Officers who obtain a P.O.S.T. <br />Advanced Certificate shall receive Educational Incentive pay equal to an <br />additional three and one-half percent (3.5%) for a total of six percent (6%) of base <br />salary. <br />It is the employee's responsibility to submit to the department training officer a <br />written request for educational incentive pay upon eligibility. Therefore, upon <br />receiving the written notification and the certificate, the City shall process the <br />educational incentive pay effective retroactively to the date of written request. <br />The Training Manager shall post on a semi-annual basis the RO.S.T. <br />requirements for Intermediate and Advanced Certificates and a list of the names <br />of officers who currently possess either Certificate. <br />7.11 K-9 Maintenance Compensation <br />Police Officers who are assigned as canine handlers shall receive premium pay in <br />the amount of 5% of the officer's base pay. Those officers shall also receive an <br />additional seven (7) hours of pay per pay period, compensated at one and one-half <br />(1-112) times the employee's base pay to pay for the time to handle, train and care <br />for their canine partner. The parties acknowledge that the Fair Labor Standards <br />Act, which governs the entitlement to compensation for canine duties, entitles the <br />parties to agree to a reasonable number of hours per pay period for the <br />performance of off-duty canine duties. It is the intent of the parties through the <br />provisions of this article to fully comply with the requirements of the Fair Labor <br />Standards Act. Both parties believe that this agreement does comply ith the <br />requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act. <br />7.12 Overtime <br />7.12.1 For 40 Hour Workweek Employees <br />Overtime for unit members in the Police Department is the authorized <br />time worked beyond the forty (40) hour workweek. <br />o + F Overtime iilzr-rroi �xxsnae cinrvSS StkCleyL tiiire =io'rc <br />beenshall be authorized Eby the Police Chief or designated <br />representative prior to such overtime being worked.
