Vacation leave shall not be credited to any employee <br />whose employment is terminated prior to certification as a regular <br />employee. <br />7.15.5 Vacation leave shall not be granted during the first twelve (12) months <br />of the original probationary period for newt hired ent -level Police <br />Officers and Police Officer Trainees. <br />7.15.6 New hire lateral Police Officers will assume, at hire, a vacation accrual <br />rate based upon their total of years of full-time sworn law enforcement <br />experience. <br />7.16 S ecial Da s Off <br />During each six (6) month shift rotation, each officer assigned to patrol shall be <br />granted his/her choice of two (2) separate dates/shifts to be taken off for use of <br />vacation or accumulated compensatory iooff dannual <br />vacation leave selection. Such special days shall not be taken on holidays as <br />identified in Section 7.14 of this agreement. <br />Effective October 29 2018 during each six 6 month shift rotation each officer <br />assigned to atrol shall be granted the following.: <br />For Officers on a 4/10 work schedule four 4 separate dates/shifts to be <br />taken off for use of vacation or accumulated com ensatoi time off in <br />addition to his/her annual vacation leave selection. <br />For Officers on a 3/12.5 work schedule three 3 se crate dates/shifts to <br />be taken off for use of vacation or accumulated com ensatory time off in <br />addition to his/her annual vacation leave selection. <br />Such s ecial da s off shall not be taken on holidays as identified in Section 7.14 <br />of this a reement. <br />7.17 Illness During Vacation <br />7.17.1 An employee who commences a scheduled vacation period and <br />subsequently becomes ill before his or her vacation period has been <br />completed shall be placed on illness leave under the following <br />conditions: <br />7.171.1 The employee otherwise qualified for illness leave as <br />provided by this MOU; and <br />7.17.1.2 The employee, if no longer ill, returns to duty immediately <br />following the vacation period; and, <br />192 <br />
