6.13. - Page 29 of 366 <br />000598141 <br />TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN REDWOOD CITY AND <br />REDWOOD CITY MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION <br />RE: 2018 SUCCESSOR MOU <br />An employee may use sick leave for reasons consistent with state and federal law, including use <br />of up to one-half of sick leave accrued in any calendar year to obtain any relief or services related <br />to b6nq a victim of domestic violence sexual assault or stalkinq including the following with <br />appropriate certification of the need for such services: <br />• A temporary restraining order or restraining order. <br />• Other in'unctive relief to help ensure the health safetv or welfare of themselves <br />or their children. <br />• To seek medical attention for in'uries caused by domestic violence sexual <br />assault or stalking. <br />• To obtain services from a domestic violence shelter, program, or rape crisis <br />center as a result of domestic violence sexual assault or stalking. <br />• To obtain psychological counseling related to an experience of domestic <br />violence, sexual assault, or stalking. <br />• To participate in safety planning and take other actions to increase safety from <br />future domestic violence sexual assault or stalking, including temporary or <br />permanent relocation, <br />18.1.3 Unused sick leave may be accumulated to maximum sick leave credits of one -thousand two - <br />hundred (1200) hours, <br />18.1.4 In the event an employee has accumulated the maximum sick leave credits of one -thousand two - <br />hundred (1200) hours and the employee becomes so severely ill that he or she exhausts his or <br />her sick leave, the Personnel Officer may, upon the written recommendation from the employee's <br />department head, authorize additional sick leave to include any sick leave in excess of the one - <br />thousand two -hundred (1200) hours maximum which may have been lost due to the maximum <br />limitation; provided, however, that sick leave credits were not accumulated for a period of six (6) <br />months or longer. <br />18.1.5 An employee may elect to receive compensation in lieu of sick leave credits for any calendar year <br />(based on the Presed+Rg-first twenty-six 5261 pay periods in the calendar year) by requesting <br />payment of unused sick leave in writing to the Director of Finance on or before December 1 of <br />that -the prior year, <br />.Payment shall be made at twenty-five (25%) of the va';e unused sick leave hours accrued <br />in the calendar year, or fifty percent (50%) of the ,aloe of the unused sick leave hours accrued in <br />the calendar year when no more than ten (10) hours of sick leave have been used for the <br />preceding (26) pay periods . <br />Payment shall be made after December 31, There shall be no payment in lieu of accumulated <br />sick leave benefits for years prior to such calendar year. Use of Personal Business Leave shall <br />be excluded from the definition of sick leave for the purposes of this article. <br />18.1.6 Accumulated sick leave credits shall be reduced by the value of the sick leave compensated as <br />provided in the above paragraph and the remaining balance shall be accumulated to a maximum <br />of one -thousand two -hundred (1200) hours . <br />18.1.7 If an employee terminates his or her employment, for reasons other than death, retirement or <br />discharge, compensation in lieu of unused sick leave shall be paid iH aGG9Fd@RG@ With the <br />24 <br />48 <br />
