6.13. - Page 71 of 366 <br />corres onding to an employee's leave of absence in excess of thirty 30 <br />consecutive calendar days), and yearly thereafter, <br />14.4 Salary Increase on Promotion <br />Promotional appointments shall be made at the level in the new salary range which results <br />in an increase of at least five percent (5%), but in no event shall the promoted employee <br />receive less than the salary of any subordinate classification the employee is required to <br />supervise directly. For a Battalion Chief who promotes to Deputy Fire Chief, the five percent <br />(5%) increase shall be applied to the 40 -hour base rate of pay. Promotional appointments <br />which result in a salary increase of more than five percent (5%) may be made with the <br />approval of the City Manager, Promoted employees are eligible for a merit salary increase <br />after six (6) months of service in the promotional classification (which may be lengthened by <br />an amount of time corresponding to an employee's leave of absence in excess of thirty (30) <br />consecutive calendar da s and on a yearly basis thereafter, <br />14.5 Overtime <br />14.5.1 Fortv (40) Hour Battalion Chiefs and the Fire Marshall: For Battalion Chiefs and <br />the Fire Marshall who are regularly assigned to work a fort 40 hour workweek <br />o9vertime is to be paid @#e^ 'ef ned as: <br />A. Time worked in excess of forty (40) hours in paid status in one (1) work week, <br />er fi4y sox (56) hours iR the Gase ef a shl# Battalion Chief, and <br />B. Only for employees regularly assigned to work a shift consisting of eight (8) <br />consecutive hours (exclusive of lunch period), work performed in excess of <br />eight (8) consecutive hours in one (1) workday (exclusive of lunch period); <br />For the purpose of this Section 14.5 Overtime the work week begins at 12,00 <br />a.m. on Monday and ends at 11:59 p.m, on Sunday_. <br />14.5.2 Shift Battalion Chief: For Battalion Chiefs assi ned to a shift schedule overtime <br />is defined as time worked in excess of fifty-six (56) hours in paid status in one (1) <br />work week. <br />14.5.3 The parties acknowledge that as FLSA exempt employees, unit members may be <br />required to Perform hours of work outside of their regular work schedule. In <br />recognition of that additional work unit members may be eligible to earn <br />contractual overtime up to the limits stated below. All overtime must be <br />authorized by the Fire Chief prior to working overtime and documented on time <br />cards. <br />14.5.4 Battalion Chiefs assigned to a forty (40) hour schedule and the Fire Marshal shall <br />be paid overtime on a straight time basis at the forty (40) hour rate of pay, or <br />shall receive one (1) hour of administrative leave (compensatory time off) for <br />each hour of overtime worked, up to a maximum of one hundred twenty (120) <br />22 <br />.O <br />
