+1 Strongly Agree "Redwood City should enact new restrictions on how big new 2 -story
homes can be when replacing or adding to an existing single -story home."
+1 5 1 think that there needs to be strict guidelines on area ratio buildings to lot size. We are
definitely getting too many large homes that do not fit the character of the neighborhoods.
+1 5 depending on restrictions
+7 4 There should be guidelines for every new construction. Isn't that what the Permits desk
does? Not every two-story remodel is a McMansion.
R S. New, huge two story houses go from property line to property line, and straight up, no
gracious set- backs to help them blend in to their one story neighbors. One should NOT be
allowed to bulldoze a nice one story house that could be tastefully added on to and then put
up a giant two-story, like 32 Myrtle, and then flip it. Ppl should be allowed to buy and ADD
ON, but tastefully and in proportion. Flipping MUST be out. OUT. Flipping guarantees to jack
up the price to a new plateau, out of reach of still another group of young ppl wanting a
home. People are getting rich flipping homes, raising prices to entire new levels. STOP THIS.
9 4 perhaps this discussion should include if they remain single family homes or not. Due
to the housing crisis if they become two family units perhaps that's good to meet housing
demands
+7 41 think the overall footprint and height of new homes should have some limitations
based on lot size and character of the community.
R 5. Construction of "McMansions" or second story additions can detract from the
appearance of a neighborhood, while also subjecting residents to the noise and
inconvenience of almost constant construction, while adding nothing in the way of resolving
our housing shortage. If anything, the larger homes will be more expensive, and will
contribute greatly to raising the cost of owning a home in Redwood City.
+1 5 1 strongly favor city regulations that will limit the growth and development of
McMansions out of single -story homes. It absolutely does ruin the character of some of our
wonderful neighborhoods, and it does NOT help the housing crisis. What a lame opposition
excuse. Thank you.
