R 1, This is NIMBYism in overdrive. I'm not sure why anyone would want to freeze a city in
time. It's not like the mid-century tract house is architecture for the ages. This is also
doubling down on the mentality and policies that have created a critical nationwide housing
shortage.
+1 1 the character of your neighborhood is less important than creating more space to live
in, rent out, etc. The need for housing is more important than "character".
+ l 1 There are already restrictions regarding height and lot coverage %. This proposal is not
really necessary
2, maybe some restrictions might make sense, like for the Eiklers neighborhoods in Palo Alto,
but that is more about the fact the those homes have open court yards. And people
shouldn't be able to build up giant houses that impose on their neighbors, but people also
need to able able to make the updates they want. The world is changing, and we need to
embrace it.
2 we need more units per lot, not just bigger single-family homes
1 it's too late to stop 2 story homes from existing in single story neighborhoods. Homes from
the early 1900 have to be rebuilt to be livable and to control maintenance costs. What could
be controlled is the property line offset on 2 story properties to be doubled to better protect
neighbors privacy.
Restrictions should NOT be imposed. As much as I don't like homes that degrade the feel of
neighborhoods this can also happen even when an exterior remodel occurs, adding a second
story doesn't change the feel of the neighborhood, the potential design does. By allowing
people to add onto their homes, less people will be forced out of moving out of the very
expensive Base Area
1, this is sounds like a request for current home owners to protect their investments which
doesn't seem fair to me. I'd rather have community members to build up instead of out in
undeveloped land
2 this is an Infringement on property owners, the neighbors should be OK with whatever
design but government is TOO BIG
2 1 would think it should depend on the size of the lot
