Accept the construction improvements for 1100 Veterans Boulevard (Kaiser Hospital), and authorize <br />the release of bonds in accordance with the Agreement for Construction of Improvements; <br />2. Approve the Parcel Map for the lot merger at 1100 Veterans Boulevard; <br />3. Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a Grant of Revocable Encroachment Permit for <br />the construction of underground conduits with communication and storm drain lines with Kaiser <br />Foundation Hospitals. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Economic Development <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 26, 2010, City Council approved an Agreement for Construction of Improvements for the Kaiser <br />Phase 1 Hospital Replacement Project located at 1100 Veterans Boulevard. As the first phase of <br />development at the Kaiser Hospital Downtown Medical Campus, the hospital replacement project <br />involved construction of a 280,000 square foot hospital, 16,000 square foot central utility plant, on-site <br />improvements and off-site improvements including changes to Walnut Street, Veterans Boulevard, and <br />Maple Street. This work was located in the Kaiser Downtown Medical Campus Precise Plan area. <br />As part of the changes to Walnut Street, on December 12, 2011, the City Council approved the vacation <br />of portions of Walnut Street to allow for reconstruction of a narrower roadway.
