R 1. It's already too crowded! You close down 4 elementary schools and then want affordable <br />housing to attract more people?? <br />+2 1 - city land needs to be available to ALL residents. The lower income are not guaranteed <br />rights that others don't have <br />+2 1 - we should keep city land as is and just make it easier and incentivize private developers to <br />make affordable housing. We should also allow housing complexes/ buildings to be taller and <br />have more floors. <br />+2 2 While affordable housing is an issue, I don't think this is an ideal way to address it. If the <br />specific parcels of land were discussed perhaps some are a better fit than I imagine <br />+z 1. That turns the city into a housing authority. It has all it can handle now. Turn vacant <br />property into something for the whole community. <br />+2 2. Redwood City already has so much housing construction, and it's not the responsibility of <br />one city to fix the housing crisis. It's impossible even. <br />+2 1 City has zero business getting in to the housing game ! Not yourjob ! Nor is it your job to <br />insist that "affordable" housing be built by developers, it just makes their remaining units less <br />affordable driving up overall cost of housing. <br />+2 1. 1 do not believe that our city government should be in the landlord business. If you want to <br />help people with the cost of rent, give a voucher. <br />+2 1- City land should benefit all. As an example, over the summer I searched for pools in the <br />city. Menlo Park has one, Palo Alto has one, San Mateo has one. But redwood City doesn't. There <br />should be more community options. I also noticed other cities have more and nicer parks with <br />area that are indoors that are rentable at a discount for the people living in that city. Redwood <br />City homes are becoming as expensive to purchase as other nearby cities but without nearly as <br />many community perks. <br />+2 1 - First priority for city -owned land is for needed school, government, police, fire, library, etc <br />buildings and services.Without know how MUCH property the city owns and where it is, 1'd be <br />adamantly opposed to squandering its on housing. <br />
