R 2. I'm not sure if valuable is the right word. Yes it will provide transportation from there to
here. But at what cost? Who is going to pay the subsidy? Surely the expense will far outweigh
the user fee. How many users? Who are the users? I'm thinking Tech bro's and not the min
wage service workers. Since current tax monies are mostly allocated to current projects, I
would not support more taxation to cover this expensive, glitzy ferry scheme.
lAnother government funded expenditure Leave it to private sector if it's viable Stop spending
and taxing
2 - not a fan, I'd rather have a train
2 Need more info on how much usage the ferry would expect. As is, I don't think the Seaport
Blvd infrastructure can handle traffic perturbations very well (a single non-functioning
stoplight on the seaport peninsula will create traffic halfway down Woodside), so increased
thoroughfare during commute hours from ferry users may not be feasible.
2 It would be better to focus on improving and consolidating CalTrans and BART. We need a
comprehensive, electric system that circumnavigates the bay instead of the jenky,
disconnected, old school system in place.
1 - I don't think the ferry is as effective as the train. I would much rather see any funding that
might be used for the ferry to be used to speed up the electrification of Caltrain and getting
the line extended to the Trans Bay terminal.
Neutral/don't know:
+a 3. 1 like the idea of ferry service but not to San francisco. I'd prefer to see ferry service go to
Alameda/Oakland/San Leandro area so people working in Redwood City can access lower
cost housing. I am not clear if this ferry would reduce or increase traffic at the Woodside/101
intersection
+4 3 - All for new transportation options that also relieve traffic congestion, but unconvinced
at ferry viability and usage.
+3 3. Honestly I'm neutral on this. I want to be for it because 1 like the idea of a ferry but I
don't know practically if I or others would really use it to commute. The money may be better
spent optimizing Caltrain
